But we are making so much money, ya'll
British Columbia's Oil and Gas Commission is saying that a 4.4-magnitude earthquake in northeastern B.C. last summer was the result of hydraulic
fracturing activities in the area.
B.C.'s Oil and Gas Commission confirmed the cause of the earthquake in an email statement to CBC this week, saying it was "triggered by fluid injection during hydraulic fracturing."
The 4.4-magnitude quake was felt in Fort St. John and Fort Nelson in August 2014. It was preceded by a 3.8-magnitude earthquake in late July, also caused by fracking.
They acknowledge that there are quite a few fracking outfits in the area, but one company shot to the top of the charts—Progress Energy.
Since the 2014 earthquake, Progress Energy has been ordered to reduce the volume of fracking fluid being used, and the company has complied, according to the commission. [...]
Progress Energy is owned by Petronas of Malaysia, which also owns Pacific NorthWest LNG, the firm planning to build a giant liquefied natural gas export facility near Prince Rupert, B.C. supplied by gas fracked in northeastern B.C.
Also, Progress merged with
North Carolina's favorite contaminator of freshwater,
Duke Energy a couple of years ago—because they gotta make those Benjamins. Now, not to jump the gun, but Progress Energy might have just done it again!
Last week! Awesome!
The B.C. Oil and Gas Commission is investigating the cause of a 4.6 magnitude earthquake earlier this week that triggered the shutdown of a major fracking operation just a few kilometres away.
The earthquake struck on Monday afternoon, some 110 kilometres north of Fort St. John, and was felt in Charlie Lake, Fort St. John and Wonowon.
The earthquake's epicentre was just three kilometres from Progress Energy's fracking site, which the company immediately shut down, even though their activities have not been linked to the quake.
Maybe. Maybe not. But probably maybe. Of course, the end is nigh and all of that so, earthquakes could just be the norm and Jesus wants that natural gas and cash. It's in the New Testament, in the same section where Jesus says he wants Super PAC money and that gays really shouldn't be getting married and then he goes on that crazy diatribe, while multiplying bread and fish, about how Mexican children cannot, under any circumstances be allowed in America.
