Hillary Clinton has made it through one round of Benghazi questioning in which about what you'd expect to happen has happened: Republicans have barraged her with conspiracy theories and nitpicky questions about wording and emails from people who didn't work directly for her. Democrats have pushed back against Republican framing and pointed out the massive contradictions in Republican claims.
Chair Trey Gowdy has insisted that this is not a prosecution, while blatantly acting as a prosecutor.
Clinton herself has remained calm, administered the occasional slapdown, and patiently reminded people that she didn't conduct most of her business through email.
And we've learned nothing new of any substance. And it will continue for hours.
10:17 AM PT (Barbara Morrill): Cummings' demands that the entire transcript of Sidney Blumenthal be released. Gowdy says we'll do it later, Cummings says the rules allow for a vote right now. Getting heated here.
10:20 AM PT: After Gowdy has ranted extensively about Blumenthal's emails, he acts outraged and offended that Democrats are characterizing the emails as Blumenthal's and continues to refuse a vote on whether to release the transcript of Blumenthal's interview with the committee. We'll get to a vote on whether to release that transcript ... sometime soon, is Gowdy's basic claim. But not now. Certainly not now.
Oh, and as they go to break, he promises much, much more Blumenthal talk to come after the break. Oy.
