As I wrote earlier this contest has been marked by "odd" politics. You might recall it was the one in which fliers were distributed about not voting for blacks, and one of the candidates (Ken Siver -- the one I support, who is openly gay) having some of his signs destroyed by homophobic slurs.
Anyways, this city is majority POC, and heavily Democratic. Our former mayor is now our congress-person (Brenda Lawrence). This race is to fufill her mayor's term.
Siver is running against a former GOPper who suddenly out of the blue decided she was a Democrat, name of Sylvia Jordan.
Jordan although getting some endorsements, did not get many apart from religious leaders in the area. She had been president of the city council.
Siver, a city council person received endorsements from the Young Democrats and most of the surrounding mayors, etc.
As of now, with 12 of the 18 Precincts reporting:
Sylvia Jordan 42.70% 4,566
Kenson Siver 57.08% 6,103
WRITE-IN 0.22% 23
So it is looking good!
