Update: Okay guys! I’m still trying to get some info out of Zazzle to see if they can be as flexible for us as CafePress, but I do have some artwork to show you! Looks like I’ll have to start another diary as this one’s comments are closed. New diary for discussion is here: www.dailykos.com/...
Hi all! This diary is intended for regular chatters in the #HillaryHangout diaries and other related diary groups to discuss ideas for our “team” t-shirt. Anyone is welcome to participate, but this might not interest you (or even make any darned sense) unless you’re a regular Hillary chatter on DKos.
The long-running joke amongst us involves the vast number of good people and institutions the “dead enders” have thrown “under the bus” in pursuit of ideological purity. The list is a long one, including Hillary Clinton, Sen. Bernie Sanders, President Obama, Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic Party, millions of Democratic voters...and by extension, us.
Spending some months under the bus together has given us a sense of cheerful camaraderie, as we welcome friend after friend to our “club.” But now, we have taken control of the bus. We’re all in, with Hillary at the wheel. It’s the bus tour of the century, and inspired by TheBatchelor’s “Kossacks for Hillary” rally sign, we’d like to recognize DKos users who have shared the experience with us.
To be clear — this is a unity project. Every Democrat who has joined Hillary, Bernie, and our cast of millions under the bus — and now riding the bus - is honored.
So here’s where the discussion was when we last left off...
- Style/sizes/colors? White is a go, and perhaps a medium blue to match Hillary’s logo swag. I was thinking a regular t-shirt, but if we use a service like CafePress, more styles, sizes and colors are open to us...
- T-shirt Sourcing advice/suggestions? Anyone have any sourcing ideas? Companies/services you like? There’s always CafePress (and similar on-demand services), I guess, which takes care of everything and offers more shirt options, but wouldn’t really be an “at cost” solution AFAIK, which is the least complicated (we could use “profits” to donate to HRC campaign, but it would take some $$$ detangling for FEC reporting purposes). Does anyone have any ideas as far as how to manage this? I could simply do Paypal refunds (of the “profit”) so you can donate in your own name. I was imagining this would be part of a DIY group donation movement. Getting the t-shirt is like a pledge to donate.
- Art/message — The plan was something that relates to the “On the bus/under the bus” theme with our usernames, Hillary, Bernie, some of the main people thrown under the bus with us, and something like “...plus 350 million Americans” or “millions of voters” or whatever. Open to suggestions, placement, &c. I was thinking some stylized art of a cartoon bus (like Hillary’s, pictured above) with something like… “Under the bus no longer...Clinton/Kane 2016” and then a list of our usernames (we can start a list below) and a list of notables who were thrown under the bus with us (again, in a list we start below). I can totally do the art, so nobody has to worry about that unless they are really, really interested in doing a design.
- Username/bus passenger list — as described above.
I want to try to keep the t-shirt project process relatively simple. Once we have a core concept, we might want to branch out and do additional designs (if we go Cafepress, Spreadshirt, &c., this could be fairly easy), but for now, let’s try to get project #1 on its way before we “add to the fun”! :D
Let’s have fun with this!
