Hey, it’s Friday! And although I’m not able to do a live show today (Memorex. Get it? Or am I too old?), I did record an ALL-NEW episode for today, including some additional commentary on today’s Joint Session of Congress to count the votes of the electoral college.
And that’s not all. Yes, we have still more about Joseph “Joey No Socks” Cinque! And more about the wider world of Donald Trump’s bizarre Russian and American mob associations. Who else brings you the good stuff? Well, OK, there are the people who write the stuff originally. But who else reads it to you like a bedtime story?
Listen NOT QUITE LIVE, BUT ALMOST AS GOOD, right here at 9:00 AM ET!
It’s also time for a new message in this section, befitting the new year. Now, I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I’ve resolved that 2017 should be the year we make the Kagro in the Morning show a sustainable enterprise by finding sufficient subscription support from our audience through our Patreon account. It should be, but I’m not making it a New Year’s resolution, because that practically guarantees failure.
So instead, let’s just all agree that the KITM show is a fun way to stay sane during the upcoming Trump years (or whatever unit ends up being best suited to measuring his time in office), and that supporting the show is a great way to make sure we’re there for one another as needed.

It’s about 15 days until Day One, when Donald Trump can fight against intelligence! Until then, David Waldman will see how much he can pack into a single KITM: At least 50 Trump Electors were illegitimately seated as electoral college members. David figures that might start to matter to this election once that total goes over a hundred or so. Day One is the day Donald plans to place Obamacare’s head on a pike. Greg Dworkin predicts things will not go so fast from day two. Repealing and replacing Obamacare is not awfully popular, surprising some in congress, but not Fortune 100 companies, or economists, some senators, two GOP governors from key Trump states, and even the AMA, a supporter of Tom Price as Health Secretary, wants a replacement before repeal. Donald Trump wants Julian Assange dead or something. But No! They’re pals now! Until Trump wants him dead again. Trump certainly likes change, but he’s not a big fan of the intelligence community, outside of a couple of Russian spies. Some Capitol Hill Republicans are still enamored with intelligence, which is showing in today’s hacking hearings. Treasury nominee Steve Mnuchin’s bank is accused of “widespread misconduct” in a leaked memo, but will that lead to anything really being done about it? Josie Duffy Rice calls in to agree about how rarely people in charge of cheating people out of money are held accountable. On the bright side, New Jersey’s Bail Reform and Speed Trial Act will largely eliminate bail for minor crimes and is expected to significantly reduce the state’s jail population. Josie discusses an attorney’s role and responsibility as a public servant, and Cook County state’s new attorney, Kimberly M. Foxx, who laid out her larger policy priorities for both civil and criminal law this week. In vendetta news, House Republicans revive a rule that allows them to reduce federal workers annual pay to $1 if they get on their nerves too much. Lickspittle Chris Christie is hated so much that his Bridgegate aide got appointed to the White House just to rub his face in it a bit more.
