Welcome to the twelfth entry in our Backyard Science “Alphabet” series. Today’s Bucket is brought to you by the letter “L”.
A longer diary today since “L” turned up a lot more nice examples that the previous couple of letters.
The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.

Wikipedia - Langkawi — Visited there in 2011. Interesting geology and excellent beaches and food.
I just wanted to type “Lynx” three times in a row.
Two gulls today since the Larus genus cover a lot of birds. We just picked nice examples of ones that also have “L” in their common name. (And I had the above bird ID’d as a Great Black-backed, but it has the yellow legs of a Lesser! Did not have a Herring Gull nearby for a size comparison.)
