“Radical evil … making human beings as human beings superfluous … Thus happens as soon as all unpredictability … is eliminated.” Arendt. Anyone else see the connection to AI and alignment transformation initiates in organisations? Making a lot of connections with her work at the moment including thoughts on the enabling conditions for totalitarianism
- Dave Snowden
Note also that four of Arendt’s five elements fot totalitarianism apply to out current technology mediated climate change denying ecology: decay of the National state, racism, expansion for expansions state & alliance between the mob and capital. Only antisemitism is missing
- Dave Snowden
Wouldn’t rules and regulations written in the “approving” and “authorizing” as opposed to the “restricted” and “prohibited” form also fit into this sort of concern? Trying to eliminate all unpredictability essentially assuming total control.

I asked a friend who is a Navy pediatrician recently for views on off-label usage of Comirnaty in order to vaccinate underage kids. This person replied that they’d love to do so with their own kids but couldn’t as Department of Defense only permits one to conduct approved actions in medicine. This struck me as odd as it is rather limiting and shows lack of trust in medical personnel. Such has the effect of essentially creating a separate DoD label for everything from which one cannot deviate. It removes flexibility and adaptability, two key concepts for success in a defense environment. It creates a “mother may I” environment in which delay results by seeking permission to deviate which often won’t come both from communication barriers and from bureaucratic leaders unwilling to take risk* and often makes proper corrective action too late. And it is in keeping with Army and Air Force command and control philosophy. It’s a shame Navy medicine is stuck under Army mentalities. Though it’s been a trend throughout the Navy over the last twenty years of land wars due to excessive Department of the Navy participation in “Joint” environments. You see, once upon a time, the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard worked with prohibitive mindsets. These may sound negative but in practice, they’re rather liberating. Lists of prohibitions and restrictions are decreed from higher headquarters. Lower entities are free to conduct business however they see fit so long as they don’t transgress a prohibition. It creates adaptability, flexibility, enables thought and creativity. And it shows trust in subordinates. These are crucial for seizing and maintaining any sense of initiative and are the only hope to have tight OODA loops. Such enable resiliency. For time critical situations, prohibitive control is the only way to go. Prohibitive control is the antithesis of micromanagement. In addition to this, the Navy uses command by negation at tactical levels. This also sounds negative though when executed as intended is liberating. Within a Composite Warfare Construct, sub-commanders announce their intentions and what they’re going to do. Then they do it without stop for permission. They’ll only change action should higher specifically come back saying otherwise. Again, trust in your people to think within their own circumstances and act accordingly. Imagine for those in Florida, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, eastern Oregon and eastern Washington, Dakotas, Idaho, etc, where schools are open, running full steam max capacity with no masks and no distancing. Shouldn’t your local provider have the freedom to give your underage kids shots in such a threatening environment?

government officials abused by Trump were instinctively deified by liberal Twitter and cable TV… The reality, Lewis argues, is that the C.D.C. did not even try… the lessons of “The Premonition” apply to more than just the C.D.C. — they tell us why government bureaucracies fail. The problem wasn’t just in Washington, or with Trump. The bureaucratic disease of under-reaction, Lewis argues, runs deep in America’s fragmented, underfunded health system.

Take a really small probability of occurrence and multiply it by a remote likelihood of fatality. Children Covid fatality rates aren’t apples comparisons with myocarditis rates. They’re ball bearings to apples. The Atlantic gives:
“The most reliable way to inflame the heart is to bother it with a virus. Many types of viruses can manage it—coxsackieviruses, flu viruses, herpesviruses, adenoviruses, even the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. Some of these pathogens bust their way straight into cardiac tissue, damaging cells directly; others rile up the immune system so overzealously that the heart gets caught in the crossfire. Whatever the cause, the condition is typically mild, but can occasionally be severe enough to permanently compromise the heart, requiring lifesaving interventions including ventilators or organ transplants; in very rare cases, it’s fatal.”
“… in the CDC’s recent reports. The agency has confirmed more than 500 cases of myocarditis or pericarditis—inflammation of the heart itself or of the lining that shrouds it—in people younger than 30 who recently received Pfizer-BioNTech’s or Moderna’s two-shot COVID-19 vaccines. These events are, so far, not matching the most terrifying versions of the condition, which have been observed with coronavirus infections. Rather, compared with more typical cases of myocarditis, the ones linked to the vaccines, on average, involve briefer symptoms and speedier recoveries, even with less invasive treatments.”
Yes, vaccines have been linked to myocarditis, but this is both less likely and much less severe than with the disease itself. Delaying vaccine for fear of this concern makes no sense. It’s theatre to appease the hesitant though the show’s tickets carry cost.
