Welcome to alvaball1990 (uid 247248) who registered shortly before 2010-06-15 07:21 EDT, the most recent of 212 to do so since LaughingPlanet checked yesterday morning.
Yesterday 169 Kogs posted 169 diaries of which 158 were recommended at least once by a cadre of thousands of recommending readers and viewed by many more thousands; 91 diaries were recommended by 10 or more readers, 33 by 30 or more, and 14 by 100 or more. Thousands of commenters visited these diaries, but how many and where are for someone with jotter-like search capabilities; as you can see from the image below (courtesy bubbanomics), this diary is written by a mere mortal jotterbug who doesn't know beans about fancy formatting with images.
Impact statistics from all 169 diaries are, alas, not available today, but using Old impact methodologies, I was able to determine min = 0.002 and max = 5.778.
Data for the main table was collected Tuesday, June 15, 2010 during a two-minute period commencing at approximately 07:30 EDT; diaries posted fewer than 24 hours before that remained open for recommendation at that time.
The search for June 14 diaries (good through the beginning of next week) used this string.
A little explanation of the modifications in the blockquote below. There is a discussion of old impact (recommends/nrecs and commenters/ncom) vs. new impact (nrecs and connections/cnx) at the bottom of today's diary before the schedule listing. Since Search gives old impact, that's what we have to display; however, each recommend is worth a hair over 0.01 impact, so I'm using this fact to include diaries that might otherwise miss. I'm also digging back down to 0.15 impact, which jotter used for many years in his HID, because activity levels yesterday don't seem to me to warrant the higher 0.20 impact. I did have to be hardnosed: I regretfully omitted a diary with old impact = 0.149, but rules is rules. (The one with 0.150 impact, however, remains.)
• Up to 150 diaries, those with old impact >= 0.15 or at least 14 recs (nearly 0.145 of new impact, so assuming extra cnx, which I can't calculate, having impact of at least 0.0049), are shown below.
• The diaries are sorted by number of recommendations (nrec); those in bold were on the front page recommended list.
• The TableTools extension for the Firefox browser allows you to sort by any column.
• The unit of diary impact is based on activity in Bill In Portland Maine's long running series, Cheers and Jeers. The unit associated is the bharns. One bharns is equivalent to the impact of the average Cheers and Jeers in Q1 2005. BiPM's email address at that time bharns@something. While the calculation for diary impact changed in late May 2006, the bharns unit remained the same.

Bonus Feature: One Year Ago In Daily Kos
Double Bonus Election Year Bonanza Feature: One Election Cycle Ago in Daily Kos
Quadruple Triple Bonus Election Year Bonanza Feature: Two Election Cycles Ago in Daily Kos
Okay, I cheated just a little bit. Since yesterday was the fourth anniversary of Top Comments (which diary, written by your semi-humble diarist, made it to 16th on the main list above), I've skipped from 10th to 31st just to show, for historical purposes, where the first Top Comments diary (Commentary Central by Carnacki) appeared on the list that year in our third bonus feature. (Doing so for other anniversaries on the other lists would have been Beyond the Pale.)
But the primary reason I wanted to show this four-years-ago list is because it was published during the three-week transition when jotter was listing the old impact calculations and an initial, interim version of a new method, jotter having just been given direct read-only access to the site database, and thus access to information he hadn't been able to use before. On this day in 2006, jotter showed both impact numbers, new and old, though his minimum impact cutoff of 0.12 (later raised to 0.15 and today at 0.20) was based on the new impact result. All too soon, jotter would slam the old bharns doors shut in HID, though the old bharns can still be seen this day via Search.
For those curious about the details, the interim impact version debuted in Weeks High Impact Diaries - May 20-26, 2006, published on May 28, and is described in the diary's second paragraph. The final (modern) version of impact was announced on June 19 in Impact 2006 update, and the old bharns doors were locked leaving only the new bharns open starting with High Impact Diaries - June 19, 2006, published on June 20; only the brand new final impact was given. As we don't have jotter's keys to all the new bharns components, we've broken into resurrected the old bharns methods for a couple of weeks of prominence.
The old impact version combined nrecs and ncom; the interim method from May and June 2006 combined nrecs and tators, while the version jotter uses today combines nrecs and cnx. I printed this above as it appeared four years ago precisely because it shows both impact numbers—interim impact above, and old beneath it. Below, I'm printing it with today's impact and after the diaries have all had a full 24 hours to get their full measure of recs from the two-years-back section of the 2008 diary from this date. Although all three impact method use the same bharns unit, the switch from favoring number of comments to number of unique commenters, with a higher premium placed on diary recs, had a visible effect on calculated impact. The best entries to look at if you wish to compare are numbers 5 and 10, which both have the added cnx column in the table below. Number 10, by Rep Louise Slaughter, has identical entries in all columns in the two tables except for impact, which is up from 1.45/1.51 to 1.79; for number 5, kevin lyda, only two additional comments have been made by previously noted commenters, which will not affect modern impact, yet there is an increase of impact from 2.86/3.02 to 3.59.
