This website. Is crap. It used to be about the environmental and the anti-GOP articles, now it has a raging bias, and is not objective, or useful anymore. It used to be great, so what happened? The election started. Please. re-start Dkos. It sucks. An anti-Clinton bias is very apparent, I think kos should work to make it so Clinton supporters can at least talk, but everyone treats them with utter contempt. It is not fair, or just to insult blindly. It was a two-party system, now, a three party system. Can we repair ties, and write about the issues that count, like the (all important) Senate filibuster? If we don't get 61 seats, the GOP can kill any piece of legislation the Democrats want to push through.
Thanks.
Ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama's campaign is a cult. Sure, I will be blasted for this, but this is my last time on the website. (choppy waters). This campaign is a level of extremism that has never been seen before (Obama supporters trampling private property). Obama has prompted something, something fanatical, but political idealism has gotten us dissappointment over and over again. "Hope 08" and "Change" seem to be fairly empty.
Why are we so entranced? Why do we think he is a bridge-builder? Why don't we think. The difference between Hillary and Barack's campaigns are few. Just the lobbyists... So why is everyone on this biased website ready to shoot down anything that happens in Hillary's campaign, even if it is good?
This man, Barack Obama, is not a god. Think, before you fantasize. Bill Clinton was, good, but we had the same expectations of him. Should we have a president who will no doubt, have growing pains?
I cannot keep up with what's been going on these last months, and it gets worse every day. The hit squad is trying to race bait a whole nation, and it's working not only with the press but with lots of folks across America. Hillary Clinton's campaign gets nastier by the day--John McCain says such stupid things that it's like another Bush--nobody calls him on it who should. I simply cannot take it anymmore.
I've been a confirmed lurker since 2003. Early last week my workplace's blocking software started blocking dailykos. The category given by the blocking software is: blogs, politics, profanity, wiki.
For anyone who's curious, no, redstate isn't blocked.
To find out what else isn't blocked, what I've found in dailykos's place, and what I'll miss most about the community, come on down...
So here comes by GBCW diary. I'm a Hillary supporter who stayed despite the strike, so this comes as no big political protest -- its just that the internet is ruining my life.
I've been informed that because I support HRC that I don't belong here anymore. I'm not close enough to the grass roots.
I'm on boycott here (as Kos correctly referred to it as), so I'm going to keep this short. I think everyone knows that I was going to respond to what happened, that's why I'm writing this now, and I'll be on boycott again.
I want to get off this blog, so that Kos can no longer count me in as a subscriber/member.
Since there is no option to unsubscribe from here, other than getting troll-rated, please do me a favor and troll-rate me into oblivion so I can stop being counted as a Kos blog subscriber.
I've wanted to come up with an eloquent and diplomatic diary to Hillary supporters appealing for forgiveness if they have felt abused and asking for their support as Democrats in the general election if Obama wins the nomination, while at the same time appealing to them to understand why they may have been abused. After all, there are oodles of Obama supporters who have been flamed as concern trolls for discussing various issues, the Wright story in particular, me included, so some of us feel your pain.
Here's our lineup for tonight's show here at GBCW's . A good way to end the week and hear some new music!
smell ya later.
so long.
auf wiedersehen.
adiós.
au revoir.
enjoy your echo chamber.
ignorance is bliss.
you are a troll because you disagree with me.
fuck critical thinking.
except for weak-sense critical thinking.
obama is god.
your a moran.
I blame the primary season. I've said before that I need this primary season like a canary needs a mineshaft. Personally, if I get "that call" at 3 AM, I can only hope that it's someone telling me that this primary season is finally over.
Yeah, DK has gotten a bit nasty. You see it every day: the diaries fueled by spite and bitterness, and more and more we see the letters "GBCW" in diary titles. But, I might be the only one to say this while noting that fact: IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME.
It's not the most common reply to the new nature of DK. In fact, I've heard no one express the same sentiment, regardless of what their philosophies are or which candidate they support.
Why is this you ask? More below the fold...
Time to go, at long last, time to go.
I've been here since the Grand Ole Days. 2004, I think it was, when Kerry took the high road, and Bush slithered back in for another 4 Clusteryears.
The Hillary supporters like myself have gone away. The Obamamites rule the roost. Never thought I could be run out, but, really, who the hell needs the aggravation?
I walk away, head held high, sure as I can be that my choice is right, from where I stand. If you don't agree? Fine. We will see who is right in November.
Yes, it's one of those, but please hear me out. I have been reading this site for well over two years...I have posted a few diaries and comments but have mostly been a lurker. I was originally an Edwards supporter, and after he dropped out I moved to Clinton. I have had some problems with this site's obvious Obama bias, but I realized that this site very frequently takes sides in contests between democrats, when its members and staff think one candidate is better/more liberal than the other. Even though I didn't agree with this view and really do think that Hillary Clinton was being treated unfairly at times, I stuck with the site because I think it is an important place for the advancement of progressive issues and a Democratic majority.
It's not a goodbye, but a farewell. I'll be back someday, I am sure, but I am sick of the holier-than-thou, smarter-than-thou, sanctimonious comments that permeate this site. There are some great diaries lately, and some stinkers (I had one yesterday), but I think the quality of diaries is very high.
Mostly, however, the comment sections are a waste of time and so frustratingly arrogant and abusive. And if the interactive portion of Daily Kos is totally annoying, then there's really no point to coming here. This is supposed to be a community but instead it's become an echo chamber where orthodoxy is determined by whomever has the most time to post dismissive or abusive comments.
So farewell. I'll be back every once in a while to see if things changed, particularly after this nomination battle is over. Sometimes if I have a non-candidate diary I may post it. But mostly I really don't like how I feel when I wander into the comments any more, and the easy way to fix it is not to wander that neighborhood anymore.
Let me up, I've had enough. Actively participated a few years ago, stayed for the progressive politics and great debates/discussions/diaries. Started to lurk a year or so ago. Made an attempt recently to wade back in to the comment wars. Am now completely disgusted by what I'm seeing day-in and day-out. This site is now so far from the Daily Kos I found so important just a few years ago. Markos, this has to be akin to watching your darling baby grow up to be an idiot thug. So innocent, so much potential, so eager - now just churning out the same under-researched, unsubstantiated bullshit you can read on any opinion poll on CNN.com or mirrored in countless rightwing blogs.
So, SteamPunkX thinks this is worth publishing.
Basically, I lost it this morning as was about to go berserk. The following diary draft was the result:
