Keith Olbermann and his peeps read Daily Kos. Please give him props for bringing up facts that Tweety, Russert, Everyone at CNN won't
Shocker: More revelations about Pentagon's illegal propaganda campaign
Sat May 10, 2008 at 08:18:42 AM PDT
As noted in previous posts here, the shocking New York Times article last month by David Barstow exposing the Pentagon's use of retired military officers to carry their talking points on the Iraq war in the media has received relatively little follow-up--or response--from the news outlets involved, principally TV and cable networks. One popular blogger who has kept the issue alive is Salon's Glenn Greenwald.
The Pentagon, earlier this week, released dozens of documents that Barstow forced out by his inquiries, including transcripts of some of the meetings with the "media generals" (who are further compromised by working for companies with defense contracts) and even some audio. Greenwald, yesterday and today, has been going through some of it and offering some startling quotes about the collaboration.
Earth to Tweety: It takes TWO to make a baby!
Fri May 09, 2008 at 05:06:29 PM PDT
Let's put this one to rest, shall we? Tweety on Hardball just now was buying into the McCain spin on his "good genes" hook, line and sinker. Apparently McCain was touring around with his 90+-year old mother today as evidence that his rather advanced age is not a factor in this election.

Major Hotel Chains are Boycotting MSNBC w/poll
Thu May 08, 2008 at 08:28:12 PM PDT
It has been a while since I have posted here but I believe that Kossacks will respond to an outrage that has gone on for far too long. While I can always get the three major networks, ESPN, CNN, and Fixed News, I often find that when I check into a hotel that I cannot get MSNBC. This has to stop and I ask you for your help.
Puerto Rico Popular Vote for Clinton?
Thu May 08, 2008 at 05:06:57 PM PDT
MSNBC is reporting that Howard Wolfson wants to count the popular vote in Puerto Rico.
WTF?!? MSNBC: Obama/Muslim imagery
Thu May 08, 2008 at 11:52:30 AM PDT
Just saw this on MSNBC (appx. 2:33pm) is it just me, or did MSNBC try to slip one by?

Maybe that's the state flag of Illinois behind Obama, but I doubt it. It looks strikingly...Arabic to me. Oh, I guess I should stop whining, at least they didn't put an American Flag behind John McAmeriCain.
Is a mild sense of outrage an appropriate reaction?
Chuck Todd: "NC A Vote For The Future"
Thu May 08, 2008 at 06:20:28 AM PDT
I delved back into the world of cable news yesterday afternoon after a weeks long self imposed ban on all things CNN and MSNBC. And I was pleasantly surprised by something I heard on Hardball. The lead in to the video below was, of course, the voting along racial divides. Then Bob Herbert says that the division between Obama and "white working class voters"(I'm beginning to despise that phrase) is not so much about race, but about generational divisions. Which is very true, but the media thinks race is more explosive and easier to define. Then Chuck Todd says something that gave me a shiver....

WOW! Matthews & Russert Admit McCain Gets A Free Pass From The Media
Wed May 07, 2008 at 08:37:22 AM PDT
Last night on MSNBC's election coverage the issue of McCain and his unreported gaffes came up. A legitimate point for anyone wondering why the media is so fixated on Reverend Wright but cannot bring themselves to give Pastor Hagee even a moment's notice.
They repeatedly ignore McCain's gaffes such as confusing Sunnis with Shi'ites and admiting "I Don't know much about the economy. I turn to my advisors." when the Economy is supposedly one of if not the top issue in the campaign.
Matthews and Russert (to their credit) are quite candid about the free pass that McCain has been given. Russert points out that it's a long race, though. He seems to imply that the media will become more critical of McCain at least on issues like the war and the economy.
I'll believe it when I see it, but for now this is a pretty great video:
Let's Sack the Media by Creating People-Driven Network
Wed May 07, 2008 at 06:58:01 AM PDT
Last night, the media were calling it like it is.
Hillary is finished.
Finally.
It felt worth it to stay up last night to hear Russert say it out loud.
She hasn't had a real chance since February--not REALLY--but to hear the media talk about it, you'd think it was Wide Open.
Whether they are conscious of it or not, a lot of the media played right into Operation Chaos all along. Sure they reported on it, but was anyone in the mainstream outraged?
Even if last night's coverage leaned toward reality--this morning's GOP talking points is a reality check.
* * *
Still last night did feel better. Chris Matthews called out Operation Chaos. MSNBC rocked. Even Buchanan seemed to make some sense.
Scarborough: "Beware the 2012 Strategy"
Wed May 07, 2008 at 04:09:13 AM PDT
Well, we now must work to unite ourselves and the Democratic party, which is absolutely essential going forward against McCain. The potential reluctance of the Clinton campaign to shift its focus from the democratic prize by supporting Obama's candidacy was verbally outed by none other than Joe Scarborough.
Rachel Maddow Wins the Punditry
Wed May 07, 2008 at 03:53:41 AM PDT
The biggest surprise of last night was not Obama's (real) double-digit win in NC, not the record turnouts, not even the nail-biter in Indiana. No, the biggest surprise was the bizarre narrative concocted by the MSNBC pundit team - a fantasy tale so intoxicating, so enticing to a punchy, tired newsroom that it even caught up Keith Olbermann. But not Maddow...
Obama possibly assumes Hillary's debt?
Tue May 06, 2008 at 08:37:06 PM PDT
MSNBC has been floating the idea that Barack Obama may assume Hillary's campaign debt when he becomes the (presumptive) nominee.
As an Obama donor and supporter, when I initially heard this, I was quite shocked.
After some (admittedly brief) reflection, I don't think it's such a bad idea.
[UPDATE x 2] MSNBC: Still too early to call Indiana
Tue May 06, 2008 at 06:41:13 PM PDT
Short entry here. MSNBC just back peddled. At the start of the night it was "too close to call." Later, as the numbers came in they upgraded to "too early to call," signaling a Clinton victory. But now...
Notice the sweat on Republican moderators..
Tue May 06, 2008 at 06:14:40 PM PDT
They sense the calm before the storm-Scarborough, Brokaw, Buchanon....literally sweating and/or red-faced. I have never seen republicans look this defeated before...they have no hope and they know it...change is finally coming.
Even the Clinton campaign seems to be coming around...before long, the democratic party will be the force this country has needed it to be.
Insightful Clinton Comment
Tue May 06, 2008 at 05:04:40 PM PDT
As we all now, Barack Obama has won the sate of North Carolina, and it seems to be a decisive one. I don't know if anyone has brought up this comment, but I think it is very relevant with regard to tonight's results.
On Friday, Clinton was campaigning in North Carolina and had a very interesting comment, which I just heard on MSNBC, and can be found on the Political Radar website. She stated,
"This primary election on Tuesday is a game changer. This is going to make a huge difference in what happens going forward. The entire country – probably even a lot of the world is looking to see what North Carolina decides."
Yes Senator Clinton, the country and world is watching, and North Carolina has made its choice, Barack Obama. Please, please, please help unite this party and stop bashing the likely Democratic nominee. I hope you can show more care for your country and its advancement, than your selfish interests. Barack Obama can stand the heat, and can win big states. As you say, the world is watching.
