Daily Show recap - Lewis Black, Economy & Bush Administration
Wed Jul 23, 2008 at 09:16:56 AM PDT
On last night's edition of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart and John Oliver talked about the recent testimonies by members of the Bush administration on Capitol Hill for numerous different scandals. As Stewart explains - some or refusing to testify while others are testifying and refusing to say anything. Oliver claims that this is an historic administration that one day will have their names retired in the rafters of the Capitol building. Fathers will one day be able to tell their sons that yes, they saw the greatest douches of all time.
Also, Lewis Black rants about the economy and the "End of an Empire Sale". I'll try not to spoil it but suffice it to say that Lewis Black is always funny. There is also a new segment of Obama Quest up as well.
Enjoy the video recap and chime in with your thoughts / comments:

The 35 Articles of Impeachment
Thu Jun 12, 2008 at 06:31:26 AM PDT
The 35 Articles of Impeachment Against George W. Bush have been read aloud in the House of Representatives. They are now a part of history, taken down and transcribed, due to be printed in the Congressional Record, never to be removed from our memory no matter how much revisionist history is written.
And all we're doing is grumbling about how a committee will bottle up the resolution and impeachment isn't going to happen?
When was the last time a multicount indictment against a sitting president of any country was announced publicly, out loud, twice, on television?
Manning memo proves Bush is guilty of murder
Sun Jun 01, 2008 at 09:15:49 AM PDT
When I first heard that Vincent Bugliosi was coming out with a new book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, I was skeptical. Granted, there is now a mountain of evidence as high as K2 that this president deliberately lied to us and our elected representatives about the evidence supporting war. For that, he should have been impeached ten times over. However, it took only one piece of evidence out of the avalanche of documentation outlined by Bugliosi to convince me that impeachment is no longer sufficient, and that this president must be tried for murder.
Bugliosi refers to a meeting Bush held on January 31, 2003 with Tony Blair and six of Bush and Blair's top aides to discuss the Iraq issue. According to a memo summarizing the meeting that was written by David Manning (then Blair's foreign policy adviser and later British ambassador to Washington), Bush actually indicated that he was willing to provoke a confrontation with Saddam. This summary has never been disputed by the White House.
Bush is a criminal? ... So what .... who cares?
Wed May 28, 2008 at 05:09:34 PM PDT
A clear and simple fact:
George W. Bush and many of his minions are cold-blooded murderers!
Today we've got even more evidence (as if we needed it) from none other than Scott McClellan. And while there have been a number of diaries today regarding this, they've all just quickly, quietly scrolled off the list (none have made the Rec list, as far as I can tell).
If that's what we wanna do, fine. Just ignore this diary, too. We've got a primary campaign to deal with, after all. We've gotta start going up against McCain, after all. Fine. Just ignore Bush's crimes... nothing more can be done.

Ohio Attorney General: No Indictment for Limbaugh Because "Being Stupid is Not a Crime"
Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 10:53:06 AM PDT
The Ohio Attorney General announced today that conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh will not be indicted for voter fraud. You may recall that in the days leading up to the Ohio Democratic primary, Limbaugh encouraged the GOP faithful to cross-over and vote for Hillary as part of "Operation Chaos." While this news will come as a disappointment to many, the consolation prize - a landmark quotation from the Attorney General's office - is certainly sweet.
BREAKING Saddam paid for trip to Iraq by 3 Dem Reps
Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 03:02:29 PM PDT
there was a tease on Blitzer, so I went on line and found this:
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON -- Federal prosecutors say Saddam Hussein's intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion.
The story goes on to say that while the indictment does not mention the lawmakers
the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. There was no indication the three lawmakers knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.
I know nothing more, but thought people would want to know. And this is my first ever use of "BREAKING"
I will be adding info below the fold as it becomes available

Bush and friends will get away with crime - how we can prevent it
Sat Sep 08, 2007 at 05:13:09 PM PDT
I posted a comment to a diary earlier about impeachment and pardons and it got me to thinking. There is a simple way for the entire administration to walk away from what amounts to massive criminal activity.
I do not think that I am giving any hints for which the administration is unaware. They do have the finest legal minds from Regent University on the payroll. Please read further if you feel cynical today.

Breaking: Indictment sought for William Jefferson (D-LA) [UPDATE #2]
Mon Jun 04, 2007 at 10:05:57 AM PDT
Oh, you guys are going to hate me for this, but yes, this is a "Breaking" diary. CBS News is reporting that Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) is about to be indicted on more than 12 counts involving public corruption.
Strangely enough, ThinkProgress is reporting that he HAS been indicted, per CBS News, but currently, CBS News's "breaking news" header says "authorities are seeking an indictment", meaning it hasn't happened yet. Maybe they jumped the gun a little bit?
Regardless, by tonight they should have the full story.

Novak indirectly confirms Rove not indicted (FWIW)
Sun Jul 16, 2006 at 03:24:40 PM PDT
In this transcript from today's Meet the Press:
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/...
Robert Novak discussed some issues related to Patrick Fitzgerald's prosecution of the Plame Leak. During this discussion, he indirectly confirmed that there Rove was not indicted. Since there are still people here who believe the Truthout/Leopold hoax that Rove was indicted back in May, this may fall outside their paradigm, but for the rest of us, its a datapoint.
