Our party is the party of the people, right? Why, then, do democratic politicians consistently dress like republicans/corporate bastards? Why don't they dress like the people?
How great would it be to have an elected official who didn't wear the black suit and tie? I wonder what would have happened if Al Gore and Sen. Kerry had campaigned in jeans and a shirt. They would have appealed to the masses! Maybe that's one of the reasons people feel so distant from politicians.
Down-to-earth, common-man politicians may never arrive. But hey! At least most of them have stopped wearing the little fascist flag lapel pin.
