The Battle of Britain (10 July 1940 – 31 October 1941) was World War II’s aerial war between the British and Nazi Germany. One of the important British fighters which defended Great Britain against German aircraft was the Hawker Hurricane.

In 1855 the Warm Springs Reservation was created in Oregon for the Warm Springs and Wasco Tribes. The Sahaptin-speaking Teninos, Wyams (Lower Deschutes), Tukspushes, and Tyighs (Upper Deschutes) made up the Warm Springs Tribe. The Museum at Warm Springs on the Warm Springs Reservation has Warm Springs baskets on display.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland, Oregon, had a special exhibition, Orcas: Our Shared Future. A part of this exhibition was an exhibit of three full-size orcas: Slick (J16), Ruffles (J1), Granny (J2).

Meet foresterbob and his sidekick, Narvik, this Saturday, September 28, at Creston Park in SE Portland, from 1pm to 3pm. The park is just south of Powell Blvd at the intersection of SE 42nd Ave. click the link for a map! There is a parking lot at the entrance of the park — we will be at the picnic tables just adjacent.

Harold LeMay, a Tacoma businessman, loved cars and managed to collect more than 3,000 automobiles, trucks, and motorcycles over forty years of collecting. A number of the vehicles from his collection form the nucleus of the LeMay—America’s Car Museum. This collection of more than 300 cars, motorcycles, and trucks is displayed in a four-level building in Tacoma, Washington. A special display—Celebrating the Passion and Vision of Harold & Nancy LeMay—highlighted some of the cars in their personal collection. Shown below are some of the early cars in this special exhibit.

In 1923 Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau was founded by Henrich Rocke, Georg Wulf, and Werner Naumann. The Fw 190 Wūrger (Shrike) was designed by Kurt Tank in 1938 and was produced in quantity from 1941-1945 during which time over 20,000 were produced. The Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum in Everett, Washington has two World War II German Focke-Wulf 190 airplanes on display.
