Standing next to her hastily packed suitcase in Michigan’s Macomb County Wednesday night, Tyra Muldrow had a bad feeling in her gut.

“I have this eerie feeling that I need to get the hell up out of there,” says Muldrow, a 20-year-old Black woman from Florida. She was in Michigan as a door knocker, hired by a subcontractor for Elon Musk’s America PAC operation to turn out the vote for Donald Trump in the heavily contested working-class suburbs of Detroit.

Muldrow and the rest of her canvassing group of roughly a dozen people had just been fired en masse, after WIRED reported that they had been tricked and threatened as part of Musk’s get-out-the-vote effort. Speaking publicly for the first time about her ordeal, Muldrow says that the canvassers in her group were fired with little explanation beyond a complaint that someone had spoken with the press. Many, including her, were still owed money. Muldrow had to find her own way home; others are still stranded in Michigan.

It’s encouraging to see such a sharp contrast between the Harris-Walz GOTV effort, in which literally hundreds of thousands of door-knocks are being made daily in the final stretch (in each battleground state, no less), and Trump’s sad attempts at voter outreach, which got farmed out to a racist oligarch, then quickly discarded once their horrible working conditions went public.

Let’s keep going strong — just a couple more days to victory.

This colossal d-bag pleaded guilty to a felony a couple of weeks ago in Georgia. From CNN:

Kenneth Chesebro, an attorney who helped orchestrate the Trump campaign’s 2020 fake electors plot, pleaded guilty Friday in the Georgia election subversion case to being part of a conspiracy alongside former President Donald Trump and others.

The plea deal is another blow to Trump and a major victory for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who charged Trump and 18 others in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election. It comes one day after former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell also pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors.

Chesebro pleaded guilty to one felony – conspiracy to commit filing false documents. Fulton County prosecutors recommended that he serve 5 years of probation and pay $5,000 in restitution, and Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee imposed that sentence at Friday’s hearing.

He moved from New York to Puerto Rico, where other attorneys for the firm live. He was released by the firm after being criminally charged for his part in the attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

I can’t believe I just wrote that title. But seriously it’s happening, and Rachel has the receipts.

Through lawyers, Trump has been engaged in financial negotiations with Stormy, trying to get her to sign an NDA. He has been offering to reduce the amount she owes him from her failed defamation suit.

Maddow has documentation of the bargaining back and forth from as recently as July of 2024. That’s just a couple of months ago. Thus far, she has refused to sign an NDA, and has paid Trump about $600,000.

This news is terrible for TFG. He has been caught red handed, committing extremely similar crimes to ones that only months ago brought him 34 felony convictions! This almost feels like an October surprise, but who knows anymore.

Lets keep kicking ass and go win this thing.

hey eric … I think this whole thing was a negotiation between Trump and Daniels for the judgment against her over her failed defamation suit … which must have gotten up to the $600k range because of interest? Trump’s lawyers were willing to REDUCE that settlement if Daniels would shut up, and were negotiating about it.

I think you might edit your diary so it doesn’t sound like the $600+k was hush money. Maddow’s video explains the numbers. Ultimately, Daniels didn’t accept the NDA idea and settled for $627.5k.

So it wouldn’t show up as a payment to Stormy Daniels in a way much neater than they tried to do this before.

It goes without saying that polls aren’t very reliable, and that regardless, we need to leave it ALL on the road. But it puts a little pep in one’s step to be up five points with fewer than three weeks to go. It is our duty as Democrats, and even more so as Americans, to give this race every last ounce of our efforts. Because we aren’t going back.

"Former President Trump is a sore loser who cannot be trusted to honor the Constitution," Rivera said Monday in a post that has been viewed over 473,000 times as of 12:30 p.m. "That is why I am voting for Kamala Harris to be our 47th President."

Rivera's post recalled his time on Trump's final season of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice. He said he previously regarded Trump as a "loyal friend" whose first term in office was "underrated."

Mark Milley, the US Army general who Donald Trump appointed as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, now says the current Republican presidential nominee is a “fascist to the core” and says no person has ever posed more of a danger to the United States than the man who served as the 45th President of the United States.

Milley, a decorated military officer who became a target for right-wing scorn after it became known that he expressed concerns over Trump’s mental stability in the wake of his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden, is described by journalist Bob Woodward in his new book, War, as incredibly alarmed at the prospect of a second Trump term in the White House. The Independent obtained a copy ahead of the book’s October 15 release date.

We’re talking five-alarm fire here.

Three cheers for General Milley, who is now getting “a barrage of death threats” for speaking out. He fears Trump will court-martial him if re-elected.

This really happened: a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff just called his ex-boss and current GOP presidential candidate, “fascist to the core”. May we all heed this most dire of warnings, and vote accordingly.

A former aide in Donald Trump’s presidential administration and a senior adviser to Project 2025 is in trouble for sending creepy internet messages to teenagers.

John McEntee, who also co-founded the conservative dating app The Right Stuff, sent messages to multiple young women offering in some cases to give them free trips to Los Angeles and making sexual advances, Wired reports. The app’s sole investor is right-wing billionaire Peter Thiel, and it has been criticized for its mostly male user base.

The publication spoke to one of those women, who asked to remain anonymous. Also aged 18, she said that McEntee reached out to her on The Right Stuff’s app before moving to text messages, using the same southern California phone number he sent to Carter. Over text, he sent her clearly identifiable selfies and began mentioning explicit sexual acts that made her uncomfortable, and encouraged her to come to California.

McEntee apparently asked these girls to bring other girls with them to California. He talked a lot about their age and how cool it would be to have sex with an 18-year-old.
McEntee was fired from the Trump Administration in 2018 because his excessive gambling and misfiled taxes prevented him from getting a security clearance. But he was rehired by Trump in 2020 as director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office. Of course, failing upwards is Trump’s modus operandi.
In May, 2023, McEntee was hired as a senior adviser by the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a plan to replace the entire Federal Government with loyal Trump fascists, abolish the Department of Education and promote “Biblical morality” while stamping out LGBTQ+ rights, among other draconian aims.

Trump sure knows how to pick ‘em. Neither he nor any of his chosen incel minions should be allowed anywhere near the reins of government. They should be in prison.

Alina Habba, the Donald Trump defense attorney who has drawn the ire of judges and even her own teammates, has settled with a former Trump National Golf Club Bedminster employee who accused her of betraying her oath as a lawyer — all to get into the former president’s inner circle.

Habba signed the monetary settlement on Aug. 27, and the terms remain confidential. The deal is the latest chapter in the legal problems Habba, Trump’s favorite TV bulldog, is facing.

Habba’s professional ethics were called into question last year when Alice Bianco, a former waitress at Bedminster, sued the golf club for having allegedly “defrauded” her into accepting $15,000 on the condition that she keep quiet about sexual harassment allegations. Habba brokered that deal, the lawsuit alleges. Nondisclosure agreements “relating to a claim of discrimination, retaliation, or harassment” are “against public policy and unenforceable” in New Jersey, per statute.

Trump has a way of surrounding himself with people as horrible as he is. Case in point, lawyer Alina Habba, who has now been caught illegally suppressing an incident of Trump Inc. sexual harassment. It is especially gross that Habba was happy to screw over another woman to curry favor with TFG. Blech.

The settlement amount has not been disclosed, but one can bet that it is at least a million or two dollars. Alina can now get in the Trump hand-out line right behind Rudy Giuliani. She should take a look at Trump’s history of legal reimbursement, and sleep well tonight.

The Department of Justice today unsealed two indictments charging Dimitri Simes, 76, and Anastasia Simes, 55, both of Huntly, Virginia, and Russia with two separate schemes to violate U.S. sanctions.

As alleged in the first indictment, Dimitri and Anastasia Simes participated in a scheme to violate U.S. sanctions for the benefit of sanctioned Russian broadcaster Channel One Russia and to launder funds obtained from that scheme. Channel One Russia, a state-owned Russian television station, was sanctioned by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on May 8, 2022, for being owned or controlled by, or for having acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, the Government of the Russian Federation.

From at least in or around June 2022 through the present, Dimitri Simes, Anastasia Simes and others allegedly participated in a scheme to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), by providing services to Channel One Russia, including by serving as a presenter and producer of programming, and by receiving over $1 million, a personal car and driver, a stipend for an apartment in Moscow, Russia, and a team of 10 employees from Channel One Russia following its designation by OFAC. The indictment alleges that Dimitri and Anastasia Simes also engaged in a scheme to commit money laundering, knowing the transactions were intended to conceal the proceeds of IEEPA violations.

Apparently, Simes and his wife are at large and assumed to be in Russia.
The FBI raided his Virginia home a couple of weeks ago and siezed several boxes worth of documents.

The Simes indictments come right on the heels of the DOJ’s announcement that Russia has been paying millions of dollars to right-wing U.S. pundits to publish Russian propaganda right here in America.
It looks like the Feds are closing in on the entire Russian attempt to screw with our elections in 2024.

According to Al-Jazeera, today, A.G. Merrick Garland announced a fresh round of sanctions on various Russian individuals and entities:

The United States has announced a range of actions to combat Russian influence in the November 2024 presidential election, as the Biden administration tries to prevent outsiders from swaying votes.

Two employees of Russian state media, Russia Today (RT), were indicted, dozens of internet domains were seized for “malign influence campaigns” and a new visa restriction policy was introduced as part of the efforts to check foreign influence.
