ACTION: Call Sen. Boxer and DEMAND Action on Russia!

I’ll keep this brief. The Russian connections to Donald Trump and the rise of right-wing authoritarianism world-wide is the most under-reported story of this election. An investigation into the election hacking would open a Pandora’s box, potentially exposing Donald Trump’s allegedly extensive business ties to Russian oligarchs. This would be like Benghazi on steroids and completely rob his administration of all legitimacy.

There is no avenue of political attack that will be more effective.

So, in spirit of getting things rolling Tea Party style, please Call Senator Barbara Boxer—the ranking Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee—and urge her to join Senator Lindsey Graham in requesting Congress investigate Russia’s interference with our free and fair election process.

Well, I would like to urge her to investigate this as we are very concerned. The NSA chief came out yesterday and revealed that a state actor was behind the DNC hacks, and the FBI is on record suspecting Russia has attempted to influence our election. We could really use some answers.

It is a dark day, but I believe we can overcome if we know what we are facing, and have a clear strategy with achievable goals. This has not been the pattern for recent leftist activism.

The only path forward that will potentially brunt President Trump is acknowledging what he is and committing ourselves to full and constant obstruction. We must take the Tea Party’s approach and demand our Democratic legislator’s oppose everything.

1. Don’t Give Him Any Votes, Ever.

2. Primary any Democrat FROM THE LEFT if they violate this, even if we lose the seat.

These are the two strategies the Tea Party successfully used to steamroll our democracy, and we should take a cue. If Democrats start dealing with President Trump, he will benefit, and we will not.

Photo ops with Dem Senators smiling with the man will demoralize our base. They will normalize his reign. This is Game Theory 101 and we should immediately begin mobilizing to make this happen.

So, with that said, what organizations are ready to oppose the rising authoritarian. Ready to fight as hard as they fought. Ready to suffer losses and get back up and try again. Because I need to be a part of that….

Republican governor of Virginia, Bob McDonnell, earned notoriety recently for rescinding the Commonwealth's anti-discrimination policy toward gay, lesbian, and transgendered citizens established by former Governor Tim Kaine. His attorney general, Ken Cucinnelli, also took the unprecedented step of issuing a directive to the Commonwealth's colleges and universities, demanding they not enforce their anti-discrimination clauses either. After an outcry from student groups, the governor issued a "directive" declaring that discrimination against gays and lesbians violates Virginia's constitution but declined to establish this protection as law, like his Democratic predecessor had.

This week, McDonnell's former brother-in-law, a transgender woman named Robin Deane, spoke out against discrimination and pointed the finger squarely at McDonnell. Deane is the father to three of Gov. McDonnell's nieces and nephews as well as uncle to five of McDonnell's children, reports Towleroad.com. After boy wonder Scott Brown won the special election for Ted Kennedy's Senate seat, the pundits declared a backlash against the Obama administration and the TeaBaggers' hope for a massive landslide in November looked more credible.

"This would be like the Democrats winning Orrin Hatch's seat in Utah. This is the most Democratic state in the union. We're talking about Edward Kennedy's old seat."

Has the tide turned in Massachusetts for the populist right? Not if the GOP gubernatorial primary is any indication...

As some you know, today in 1967, the Supreme Court struck down state law prohibitions on interracial marriage, securing marriage equality for couples regardless of what state they resided in. Loving v. Virginiawas a landmark civil rights case, akin to Brown v. Board of Education, and came at a time when the overwhelming majority of Americans did not support these couples' right to marry one another.

The courage of the Court to buck national opinion on the matter is a stark contrast to the Obama Administration's cowardice in standing up for gay and lesbian equal rights.

In fact, the Administration's actions go beyond mere cowardice. They are despicable and hypocritical. Taking our money and labor in one moment, then stabbing us in the back the next.

I learned today that the DOJ has filed multiple briefs to dismiss lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of DOMA. In these briefs, the Obama Administration argues that DOMA is perfectly constitutional, there is no fundamental right to marriage, and that states should be allowed to restrict gay marriage just as they restrict marriage to minors and incest.

The Norwegian newspaper VG has reported a truly amazing story about a newly-wed trying to get to Norway to be with her husband, and the stranger who helped pay an unexpected luggage surcharge. The blog "Leisha's Random Thoughts" has translated the story.

It was 1988, and Mary Andersen was at the Miami airport checking in for a long flight to Norway to be with her husband when the airline representative informed her that she wouldn't be able to check her luggage without paying a 100 surcharge:

When it was finally Mary’s turn, she got the message that would crush her bubbling feeling of happiness.
-You’ll have to pay a 103 dollar surcharge if you want to bring both those suitcases to Norway, the man behind the counter said.
Mary had no money. Her new husband had travelled ahead of her to Norway, and she had no one else to call.
-I was completely desperate and tried to think which of my things I could manage without. But I had already made such a careful selection of my most prized possessions, says Mary.

In a press conference, McCain attempted to pin the blame for the bailout failure on Senator Obama and the Democrats, who he claimed infused the process with partisanship (yes, he said this with a straight face). The very next day when asked about it in an interview, he flatly denied that he had blamed Senator Obama.

My friends, the financial crisis facing this country is unprecedented.

We haven't faced a crisis this severe since World War II, and it's a time for reflection, a time for coming together . . . a time to be Americans, and not Kossacks.

And so, I must announce, that I will be suspending my life to respond to the crisis.

This is it. The issue that will swing the election. The economy is in crisis, and everyone is waiting for the government's response. President Bush offered a ridiculous solution that partisans on both sides of the aisle scoffed at as irresponsible. So what gives?

Could this be a play to bone up McCain's "maverick" credentials in real time? Here's how it plays out: Bush offers up a ridiculous "Bush proposal". Everyone rejects it (already happened). The Democratic-controlled Congress offers up a proposal, negotiated by Dodd (a Senator wholly in bed with the banking industry, mind you) and Pelosi signs on. McCain rejects the Bush-Pelosi proposal, while Obama, buying into the crisis, accepts it.

Voila. McCain is the populist: against big government AND the deregulated Wall-street crisis. Although his party's penchant for rampant deregulation caused this crisis, the old veteran will be able to cast this albatross around Obama's neck by opposing the solution to the problem.

It is imperative that Democrats, and Barack Obama in particular, think long and hard about what move they make to respond to the crisis on Wall Street.

As you probably know, John McCain's campaign has been playing Heart's hit "Barracuda" to introduce Sarah Palin--the pointguard turned V.P. candidate who was nicknamed "Sarahcuda" at whatever ~~community college~~ "university" she played for. Heart politely asked the McCain campaign to stop using their song at rallies, but since the campaign continued to do so, the band members pledged to donate all royalties to the Obama campaign.

Now Heart is getting ugly.
