So I went to vote today to support my man Patrick Murphy for Attorney General here in PA. I was met with a double bummer. First off, they have started checking ID for the new voter ID law. It isn't a requirement to have ID yet, but they want to get people used to it for next time. It's no problem for me, but it really burns me up that people are going to be disenfranchised by this. The second bummer was this:

Pretty lame attempt at mischief making. It's too bad folks old enough to vote aren't mature enough to be beyond this kind of thing.

As written the triggers in the current compromised proposal do not do enough to make sure that in the future Republicans will accept compromise and agree to raise taxes. I have a proposal for a much better plan that will make sure that they have no choice to comply, or be seen as complete and total maniacs.

If we follow my more aggressive plan we will finally win a negotiation with the Republicans.

President Obama has a plan for America. He thinks we need to "Eat our Peas" and accept cuts to programs such as Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid. As an electorate, we overwhelmingly oppose these cuts.

What exactly is he trying to tell us with this message? We may not like the taste of peas, but they are good for us so we should obey our parents and take our medicine.

Well, this author likes the taste of peas. All they need is a little butter and salt and they taste great!

But whatever, I didn't pick the metaphor. Cuts to these valuable social programs are not good for us and the President needs to receive that message. I have an idea of how we can let him know and help some people in the process.

Please don't let the HBGary story die. The importance of what Anonymous has discovered is not being paid an appropriate amount of media attention. Even here, I know everyone is super excited about world changing events in Egypt, but that situation is in celebration mode for now and we have our own crisis to deal with. Let me try and get you up to date if you have not been following this issue too closely.

You may have had this video forwarded to you recently. It is an attempt to pin the financial crisis on Democrats because of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977.

It is a pretty silly claim, but it is easy to confuse people with a deceptive youtube video when the truth about this financial crisis is very hard to understand. Not everyone can be an economist.

This is one of the saddest aspects of the Palin pick. Book banning is such an insult to the universal American respect for freedom of speech that it is shocking McCain would even consider choosing someone to be a heart beat away from the presidency who had even considered the action.

It is less shocking, at this point, that when faced with a challenge on this issue the McCain camp would fall back on their second most favorite defense, a lie.

This will sound concern trollish, but there is really no other way to put it. It's time to back off on the Palin attacks. The bulk of the dirt that is being found is turning out to be untrue, overblown, or unprovable.

The speed and intensity of the attacks are creating slipshod narratives that don't hold up to close scrutiny and are perilous with backlash possibilities.

The frames are all over the place, inconsistent, and are not producing a net positive result for our side.

As a born & raised Alaskan, today has been tumultuous day.

My cell started ringing at ass-crack:30 this morning (Alaska is ~~1 Pacific,~~ 4 ET) with the rumor mill, and then a little later the confirmed WTF calls. Friends and family from all over the country calling to ask about our Gov.

It was of course impossible to go back to sleep after that, so I've been tired all day. But lack of sleep isn't what caused the looming sense of dread I've felt all day.
