New tonight, the Debate commission has instituted a mute on the mic not in use during the 2 minute answers… Story here
“We realize, after discussions with both campaigns, that neither campaign may be totally satisfied with the measures announced today," the commission said in a statement. "One may think they go too far, and one may think they do not go far enough. We are comfortable that these actions strike the right balance and that they are in the interest of the American people, for whom these debates are held.”
The commission said in its statement that both camps had already agreed to each candidate having two minutes of uninterrupted time to make remarks at the beginning of each 15-minute segment of the debate, it was enforcing the rules and making a rule change.
Key point though, the mics will be open during the follow up questions in the 15 minute segments
The commission said both microphones will be on, however, during open-discussion segments of the debate.
So, this begs the question, will Donnie use this as an excuse to duck from the last debate?
That's the big question right now
This comes after the Trump campaign has been complaining about topics and bias with the moderator… perhaps Donnie will cut and run afterall. No one really wants to watch anyway.
At the same time, interest in the final presidential debate — perhaps Trump’s last chance to change the dynamic of the race — is waning. Just 41 percent of registered voters say they plan to watch on Oct. 22, compared with 53 percent who said they had been planning to watch the first debate. Interest is even lower (34 percent) among those who are either undecided or say they could still change their minds — that is, the voters Trump needs to reach.
I voted last week and will be on vacation Thursday… if Donnie shows up, I may tune in, but it probably won’t even matter anyway because Biden will win the debate and hopefully win the election.
