The big piece on Last Week Tonight yesterday evening was a thing of brilliance. It delved into just how much it sucks to be a chicken farmer. Yes - there have been a lot of stories about just how deplorable conditions are for the chickens themselves on these farms, but I've never seen any piece on what the average chicken farmer has to endure in order to make a living. Until now.
Don't really need to say much here. Taken ~ 2000 feet down via an ROV. This was purely by chance. The response of the camera operators is pretty good as well. Everyone was just geeking out over their good fortune. Just sit back and enjoy!
Sure, we all know Big Tobacco is evil. John's piece from last night's show confirms that and more. Here in the US, we probably take it for granted that they're horrible, but outside of the US things are a bit different. I have to think the tobacco companies will have to respond to this.
Just found out a little while ago that Chicago Cubs legend, Ernie Banks has passed away at the age of 83. A part of my childhood has died tonight.
I didn't see anyone post anything about this yesterday and I thought it was worth noting that Marcia Wallace passed away on Friday after a long battle with breast cancer.
I did one of these diaries several years ago and it got a really good response. I'm sitting here on a Friday night drinking a beer and thought it might be a good time to do another one. Plus, I don't recall seeing any Friday night music diaries here on dKos in quite some time.
Just got the "breaking news" email from CNN. And then verified it over at ABCnews.com
Earlier today someone over at Balloon Juice put up a post asking people to list 20 songs that were on their iPod. I thought that was not a bad idea, but rather than do the exact same thing here I thought I'd change it to listing what was on your DVR.
On The Movie Channel right now (TMCXe) right now is George Romero's Night of the Living Dead ca. 1968.
So do you need a little break from all the trouble, heartache, grief, anger and general unpleasantness of things here in the US and around the rest of the world? Here's something you can check over the next 24 hours or so get away from it for a bit.
Sorry to use "Breaking" but this is kind of big. This was posted over at Dane101.com @ 8:42 PM CST.

OK, it's Friday night. Hopefully, the diary police are off-duty. I've just spend the last several hours ripping a bunch of songs that we want to keep off of a bunch of CDs that my wife and I are going to sell for day 2 of our semi-annual garage sale. We've done a major purge of our CD collection so I've been listening to some stuff that I've not listened to for years (we're talking early 90's in some cases).
