I ran a —10 to 10 ratings poll with the same choices as yesterday's dailykos straw poll. I got about 150 votes. The have the same general results for the top tier candidates as the kos poll. I think that means it's a decent sample, so let's move on to deeper data.
The write-in slots always bring out the Gore and Clark supporters, more Clark than Gore this time. Unlike the pick-one poll, here we find out who their 2nd place picks are.
That and more data and analysis follow...
name | raw rating summation |
John Edwards | 577.00 |
Wesley Clark | 480.00 |
Al Gore | 426.00 |
Barack Obama | 405.00 |
Bill Richardson | 297.00 |
Dennis Kucinich | 127.00 |
Mike Gravel | 95.00 |
No Freakin' Clue | 80.00 |
Chris Dodd | 80.00 |

Joe Biden | -55.00 |
Hillary Clinton | -239.00 |
Looking at the histograms of the ratings we see that Jonh Edwards has the largest and most enthusiastic base in this polling group, as has been the case for months. Barack Obama garners broad but slightly less positive support. Clark and Gore get fanatical approval from the substantial minority who write them in. Bill Richardson comes up next with broad but still weaker positives. Dennis Kucinich has bounced back into positive territory this month, fully recovered from the Faux News gaffe of two months ago, maybe trying to impeach Cheney is helping. Mike Gravel is also surging ahead with a personal best, I'd say being heard is only good for him at this point. Chris Dodd's ratings are all over, but mostly just-barely-positive. Still no love for Joe Biden (D-MBNA, as they say around here). And Hillary Clinton is solidly the most divisive candidate here with a fair hump of low positive ratings but a huge spike at —10.

I'm kinda saddened that so many of the Clark supporters who wrote him in didn't want to express any further opinion. Are these really people who would not vote if Clark doesn't get into the race?
