Friends,
As you already know, today is the last day of the all important 3rd quarter filing deadline for campaigns and I'm sure your inbox has been filled up with requests for donations and support. I want to take a moment to first thank everyone at DailyKos, Openleft, MyDD, and the Swing State Project for deciding to add my race to their Blue Majority page as well those of you who have decided to support my race and the other Blue Majority candidates. The support of bloggers is incredibly valuable and we simply cannot win without your help. Today, I want to take a moment to address you in video which is something I haven't been able to do as often as I like (though your contributions are helping us build out our staff and increase our capabilities):
As you may have already seen, my campaign is currently #2 on the Actblue homepage right behind John Edwards, a spot that I am deeply honored to hold on this final day before the end of the quarter. I am one of a very few candidates in the entire nation who refuses to take corporate PAC contributions because I will not allow my vote in Congress to be bought and sold as my opponent, Randy Kuhl, has chosen to do. This past week, Kuhl voted against the SCHIP bill which 45 Republicans crossed party lines to support. This self funding bill would expand the current SCHIP coverage to include 4 million children who currently don't have health insurance by raising the price of a pack of cigarettes; however, because Kuhl takes thousands of dollars from Altria (Philip Morris) and R.J. Reynolds, he voted against saving children's lives. Unless he and a handful of Republicans change their vote, the legislation will not survive the impending Presidential Veto.
One seat in Congress can make all the difference in the world and so on this final day the third quarter, I ask that you consider supporting my campaign with a financial contribution. We came within 1% of winning last year, and this year we are winning the fight on the ground, but your continued support will help keep us there.
Thank you once again for all of your support,
-Eric Massa
