OK, I know we still have Missouri in the Presidential election, three Senate seats, and five House seats to be decided, but, modesty aside, my election predictions pretty much ROCK!
These were my predictions:
* 59 Democratic Senate seats
* 41 Republican Senate seats
* 255 Democratic House seats
* 178 Republican House seats
* 364 Obama Electoral Votes
* 174 McCain Electoral Votes
* 53.4 Obama Popular Vote Percentage
* 45.6 McCain Popular Vote Percentage
I'm guessing now that we'll have 58 or 59 Democratic Senate seats, 40 or 41 Republican (Minnesota pending), and 1 run-off (Georgia); between 255 and 260 Democratic House seats and between 175 and 180 Republican House seats; and 365 Democratic Electoral College vote versus 173 Republican (no, I don't think Missouri will flip).
There were apparently 9493 people who made predictions in the election contest; I'm kind of annoyed that I correctly predicted everything but the one stray Nebraska EV, but probably a lot of people who just rounded off to the nearest multiple of five on a sloppy guess will beat me on the Electoral College prediction. Unless someone predicted one undecided Senate election, I feel pretty good about my position there; and I think I'm probably a couple or three seats light for the Democrats in the House races. My popular vote predictions for the Presidential Election are pretty weak, but that's only a tie-breaker.
Anyway, I'm thinking there's better than an outside chance (P>5%) that I could win the election prediction contest. But before I start clearing off a space on my desk for the shiny new Apple laptop prize, I thought I'd sound out other people who made predictions to see if there's anyone who just absolutely owned me.
So please respond to the poll, and if you think you schooled me with your predictions, please post them in a comment.
Update: A link to the original contest.
