I am a man. I was raped twice. The first time by a gang of older girl cousins when I was a boy. The second time by my wife.
When I was a boy and my uncles found us I was crying and completely devastated by what was happening. They broke up the situation and told me to suck it up. They said I was lucky. Most guys would consider what happened to me to be a good thing.
Later when I was married it happened again. The police told me to suck it up. They said I was lucky.
JohnnyGun wrote that he also had been raped. And that it was hard.

So just once I'd like to see a diary on Daily Kos about violence against women without someone jumping in with "I know it's rare, but it happens to men, too."
But since I know those comments are unavoidable, can they be at least a little further down the thread than comment number two?
And all I can hear is that I should suck it up. And that I am lucky. And my heart pounds and I want to cry.
