Well, we all know about the "light skinned" Obama who doesn't talk like a Negro, thanks to Harry Reid. Many Repugs are calling for his head. Like sharks who think they smell blood, they start to circle around for the kill.
And in totally knee-jerk reactionary mode, Kossacks seem to be flocking to Reids defense.
Why? What has Harry Reid done except obstruct and derail everything we work for? When we talk about Good Democrats, Harry Reids name does NOT appear on that list. In fact, he's one of the first we want to see gone.
So WTF people? Why are we defending Harry Reid?
73% of Kossacks don't think Harry Reid is doing his job. Only 14% are happy with him.
Yet, because the Repugs attack him for a blatantly racist remark, we all pass it off as right wing hypocrisy? Lott was "speaking in code" when he did it but Reid wasn't so it's okay?

Yet, we try to say that what he and Lott did are not the same? Why bother? Why not use this golden opportunity to demand he step down? According to Kos, he's already abdicated his leadership role.
Why are we wasting so much effort sidestepping the real issue: what Harry Reid actually said?
Yes, the Repugs are racist. Yes, it's a pile of steaming hypocritical bullshit when they jump on Reid for being racist. But the fact remains, Harry Reid said some very disturbingly racist things about Obama and why aren't we demanding his head?
It's a legitimate question and just because the right is howling for his head, doesn't mean we have to rush to his defense. Why in Gods name DON'T we all call for Reids head?

What did one defender of Harry Reid say?
Majority Leader Reid has a record. They do not. Words matter, but what matters most are the actions of a man whose committed career on our issues speaks for itself.

The irony here is that Harry Reid is more committed to their (right wing) issues than he is to ours. Actions DO speak louder than words and let's not forget Reids (in)actions.

As Kos himself pointed out, it was Harry Reid who has raised the bar to where 60 votes are needed to pass anything. When Republicans ruled, it was only 50.

Why the F are we defending him again, please someone tell me? Oh, yes, it's because we have this knee-jerk reactionary propensity to immediately defend anyone the right wing attacks. No matter how little they deserve it.
Well, you know what? Reid's not even polling well back in Nevada, to which Kos says:
Nevada is solidly pro-public option, with even Independents sporting majority support. And when 1/5th of Republicans support it, that's more "bipartisanship" than you'll ever get in Congress. Yet Reid has wavered on the public option in recent days, likely under the impression that the issue is hurting him back home.
Yet if anything is hurting him, it's anemic support among Democrats in those head-to-head matchups -- barely breaking 70 percent against both challengers. It could be argued that Reid will bring those Democrats home by election day, and he likely will score dominant numbers among Democrats once the votes are cast.
Okay, first off, if Nevada is so solidly pro-public option, why the frak did Reid obstruct the public option with his complete lack of leadership in the first place?
But most importantly: why should Democrats bring home the votes come election day? Why shouldn't Dems be demanding Reid step down NOW and start actively finding a Dem replacement for him. Someone who conceivably could bring home the votes come election day?
Why are we not pressing to get rid of this worthless pile of dung that 73% of us can't stand? Simply because the Repugs say we should?
