Y'all are going to love this! There was a debate last night between Wisconsin Supreme Court Candidates David Prosser and JoAnne Kloppenburg. The most heated exchange came when the discussion turned to Kloppenburg's Facebook page about which Prosser had this to say regarding one of the posts:
“It says, 'Stop the turd, vote Kloppenburg,'” he said. "Am I the turd or is the governor the turd?"
Uh, hey, Dave.... If you have to ask that question... Perhaps it's both? Is it really fair to force us to decide? That's supposed to be your big area of expertise and all, right?

STOP THE TURD VOTE KLOPPENBURG!
Okay, that was fun. The diary I wrote this morning and came up to the library to publish is below the fold... With just two weeks to go until election day this is STILL A BIG F*ING DEAL!!
Much has changed since I first wrote about the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election. Three short weeks ago hardly anyone outside of Madison even knew there was an election let alone who the candidates were. A handful of activists were spreading the word inside the occupied capitol building, but the occupation itself was getting all the ink. At the time, a google search brought up articles from February 15th with the results of the Primary Election. I'll be honest with you, I was getting kinda nervous about the situation. I felt like I was shouting at the wind.
Then I popped out a little diary all in a rush before I went to work one day and when I got home it was as if the clouds had parted and brilliant warm sunshine washed over me. Spring had arrived early to my soul. Having a diary on the reclist is cool and all, but that wasn't the best part by far. I felt like I had changed the world... That eyes were opened, that other's finally noticed the freight train that was bearing down on us all. I had hope...
Hundreds of articles come up now when Google is searched, but that freight train is still chugging it's way in our direction. Justice Prosser came out of the primary with a 30 percentage point lead over JoAnne Kloppenburg. His campaign may very well believe that lead is insurmountable. Ads for JoAnne Kloppenburg are all over the airwaves but I have seen very few if any television ads for Prosser. This leads me to think that they either don't see a threat or they're conserving their ammo. I think we're going to see a barrage beginning sometime next week... a mini "October surprise" shock and awe type campaign that the right wing noise machine hopes will be enough to drag Prosser over the finish line with just enough votes to win. They certainly don't appear to be taking the groundswell of support for Kloppenburg too seriously. Perhaps that's a good thing... I don't know. They probably have access to polling data to which I'm not privy which gives them confidence. I'd really like to see PPP/dKos poll this race just once before election day so we can know where we stand.
One thing's for certain though... THIS SHIT ISN'T OVER YET! and if anything IT'S A BIGGER FUCKING DEAL THAN EVER!! We need to GOTV and phonebank for JoAnne Kloppenburg like there's no tomorrow because, quite frankly, if she loses there is none for Wisconsin.
