Yes, Dear Reader, that's right - Simple-Minded Sarah the Serial Fact-Mangling Grifter told Fox News Sunday today that she didn't mess up the story of Paul Revere's ride to warn the American Colonists that The British are Coming!
Yes, Really.
CHRIS WALLACE: I gotta ask you about that real quickly, though. You realize that you messed up about Paul Revere, don’t you?
PALIN: You know what? I didn’t mess up about Paul Revere. Here’s what Paul Revere did. He warned the Americans that “the British were coming, the British were coming.” And they were going to try to take our arms so got to make sure that, uh, we were protecting ourselves and, uhm, shoring up all of our ammunitions and our firearms so that they couldn’t take them.
But remember that the British had already been there — many soldiers — for seven years in that area. And part of Paul Revere’s ride… And it wasn’t just one ride. He was a courier. He was a messenger. Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there that, “Hey. You’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms. You are not gonna beat our own well-armed, uh, persons, uh, individual private militia that we have. He did warn the British.
And in a shout-out, gotcha type of question that was asked of me, I answered candidly. And I know my American history.
Uh.. yeah...Wow.
Here's the Thinkprogress Rebuttal.
If Palin knows her American history, this latest bit of jujitsu shows no evidence of it. The purpose of Revere’s ride was to inform John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and other colonial American patriots that the British Army was marching from Boston to Lexington. As such, secrecy and stealth were essential. So contrary to Palin’s claim that Revere warned the British they would not succeed, Revere attempted to avoid all contact with British troops or British loyalists already living in the colonies. The entire point of Revere’s mission was to inform the patriots of the British movements without the British knowing they had been so informed.
At one point in the night, Revere was temporarily detained and interrogated by British soldiers at a roadblock. He intentionally provided them a falsely inflated description of the colonial militia’s strength, though only in the most strained metaphorical reading could this be considered a “warning.”
Furthermore — again due to the need for secrecy and stealth — Revere used no bells or warning shots, and delivered his message in face-to-face contacts throughout the night. (Palin seems to simply forget her inclusion of the bells and warning shots in her initial recounting.) Revere did instruct Robert Newman to hang lanterns in the Old North Church steeple as a signal to spread the word, but Palin omitted that aspect of the ride entirely. Which is especially curious, given that the lanterns were immortalized by the line “one if by land, two if by sea” in the poem “Paul Revere’s Ride” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
In fairness, it must be acknowledged that Longfellow was guilty of slight inaccuracies of his own, though nothing on the scale of Palin’s flub.
As both Keith an Roger Ailes would say, "That woman is an idiot".
But she's an idiot like a Fox.
Like I've discussed in detail before, what this shows is that Palin isn't just accidentally wrong - she's is on a deliberate Disinformation Campaign to play to her Militia Minded "2nd Amendment Remedies" Base. What she said before wasn't just a flub, it was actually what she believes or more importantly what she probably correctly understand that her supporters believe.
Her stating this, then restating it is really saying "I'm One Of YOU!" - not one of them - the Filthy Gun Hating, America-Hating Left! Sending that message is more important that the Truth, to her.
She was wrong when she misstated the history of Immigrants and Ellis Island, and used the occasion to slam the Dream Act, she was wrong about George Washington's work ethic when she failed to correct her daughter Piper's claim that he worked the Mt Vernon plantation all by himself (Y'know - without any Slaves - cuz America doesn't cotton to no Socialist 'Freeloaders" on Welfare and Medicaid) She was wrong when she told Greta Van Susturen that America was essentially borrowing Money from China to give to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, but it makes a great attack point on the Muslim-Loving Obama doesn't it? She's wrong when she repeatedly says "The private sector needs to be allowed to create jobs" even though taxes are at their lowest point in half a century while the Private Sector is already making record breaking profits - mostly by squeezing more work out of less and less people, for less wages - but it makes a great talking point against those damn dirty "tax and spend" Liberals like Obama.
All her "Mistakes" serve her purposes.
It's just like when Christine O'Donnell thought she'd completely Mashed Chris Koons with her 'Where exactly is the Separation of Church and State in the Constitution?"
Remember This?
She really thought she Nailed It with that question.
And she wasn't alone as Rush Limbaugh came galloping to her defense:
Limbaugh: Christine O'Donnell was absolutely correct. The First Amendment says nothing about the Separation of Church and State.
And the left has taken this to say that religious people can not be in government. And that you can't teach something like creation in the schools while you can teach evolution because evolution isn't religion but creationism is. Intelligent design can't be taught because that's a religion, evolution is. Yet both require faith because neither can be proved.
Just like with O'Donnell, Palin's Flub may have been a mistake, but it was No Accident.
These people are truly living in an Alternate Reality from our own - one where fertilized eggs are people, lower taxes rates mystically creates greater tax revenue, jobs only happen by the magic of the market, Government jobs don't count, the President is an Illegal Alien Nazi Muslim - but thinking that and saying that repeatedly without any evidence is NOT Racism, you can preserve life by making health care more expensive and harder to get, we can "Drill, Baby Drill" our way to energy independence with only 3% of the world's Oil Reserves and 20% of it's consumption, Wall Street Speculators have nothing to do with High Gas Prices, Rampant Banking Fraud has nothing to do with a Weak Housing Market, Climate Change has nothing to do with Snowmaggedon, Freakish Flooding of the Mississippi or Mega-Tornadoes from Hell, and who cares ayway because the Rapture is coming, The Rapture is COMING!.

12:31 PM PT: I'm about to head out to pick up some groceries for the next few hours - while I'm gone I'd like to ask those who've rec'd this diary (thanks, of course) to at least read and hopefully share my last diary on the Ryan MediStamp Plan's Current Impact on Health Care, which has been knocked off the Rec-List twice (The Second Time by Me ironically) It's much more important, though far less hilarious, than this one. Thanks again.
