In light of the current front-page story about the Kaiser Family Foundation's poll showing that most Americans want to move on from the Obamacare fight, here's something else from the Kaiser Foundation that's worth your time:
Health Reform Quiz
The health reform law promises to deliver big changes in the U.S. health care system. But, as with other sweeping pieces of legislation, it can be hard to get the real facts about what it does. And it is all too easy for misinformation about the law to spread.Take our short, 10-question quiz to test your knowledge of the law, and then find out how you compare to the rest of the country, as represented by the findings of the Kaiser Family Foundation's monthly Health Tracking Poll.
It's a pretty basic quiz, and my guess is that most Kossacks will score pretty high. What's extremely telling, however (and very depressing) is what popped up on the results page after I completed it:
You answered 10 out of 10 questions correctly, better than 99.6% of Americans.
Now, don't get me wrong; there are 2 of the questions which I could easily see a lot of people--even high-information people--getting wrong, if they don't read them carefully. Even more importantly, the
original survey (pdf) was done a year and a half ago, in December 2010 (ie, just after the Teabagger Storm election, but just before they actually took office).
Presumably there's been SOME improvement in education of the general public on the ACA since that time.
However, the fact that 99.6% of the respondents to the original poll got at least one answer wrong (and 97% got at least 2 wrong) speaks volumes about the magnitude of the education problem we're facing between now and November.
With that in mind, I invite all of you to take the quiz yourself and report back on your own results.
IMPORTANT: DON'T READ THE COMMENT THREAD BELOW UNTIL AFTER YOU'VE TAKEN THE QUIZ YOURSELF.
