Well, before I get any more personal email on the matter, YES, I did publish, as promised (or threatened) Arches NP hiking diary this morning, which was around 8:45 if memory serves. And some of you in the DKos community have asked if I forgot. Well, obviously not. BUT there has been so many interesting diaries posted since then and there's only so long any diary can manage to hang on the "recent diary" list. Ergo, the Arches sequel sort of had the runs (meaning, it ran through the list PDQ). Usually, the robot that keeps track of diaries that are clicked on, meaning, someone's reading one diary more than the other, these hiking sequels I've been composing tend to get a boosted rating, say, on the Community list. But that's not always how things go.
Anyway, for those who are still interested in hitting the bricks, as it were, here's the URL for that diary: http://www.dailykos.com/...
Not sure how else to go about getting this news out there, but I hope I didn't just break Daily Kos protocol by doing so. If so, leave me a comment (on the hiking diary) and I'll hear about the faux pax and learn a thing or two.
Now. . .use your imagination and think yourself here. . .somewhere in the park and about to take a hike. . .
(Continues after the fold.)
Next, imagine yourself doing something similar to what this hiker's doing. . .
Finally, let's try and keep this from happening to you while you enjoy the hike. Always remember to drink copious amounts of water and then snacks, salty or sweet, and I recommend both. Do you know this advice is really important in desert-canyon hiking? (I'll let you know if and when some of you comment and ask for the answer.)
Happy, safe, and enjoyable trails if and when you do take a hike here at Arches.

P. S. I could not resist. . .I know these flying garbage cans aren't exactly Nature's most handsome avian, yet are extremely important to the ecosystem. My question to you is why do these 'rocker wing' birds have no feathers on their homely heads? For those who are curious about the answer contact me through the hiking diary and find out.
