Some of you will have heard or read stories about the recent comparatively high lottery jackpots (I think Powerball was $600+ million, and Megamillions about $190 million). Perhaps we all fantasize at times about what we would do with a large windfall. Couldn’t we do an enormous amount of good with such money?! Finance scholarships to Netroots Nation, fund great candidates, help feed the poor, help the homeless, pay for community quilts (and a full benefits plan for Sara and winglion!) ... college for the niece and nephew ... so much good...
More below! But, first, a word from our sponsor ...

But what about different denominations? What would we do with them? They can add up! Even small amounts of money can cultivate great fruits. Even if those fruits take some time to ripen. They can serve as magnets to attract similar contributions from others. They can facilitate communication of great and important messages. They can help people live more creative, more fulfilling lives.
There are no RIGHT answers. But ... for the sake of discussion, what would you do to achieve maximum ‘good’ (however YOU define it, and do please feel free to share your definitions, if you like!) with that spare $20 bill you don’t have more pressing need for?
With that spare $100?
With that extra $1000? $10,000? $100,000? $1,000,000? $25,000,000?
We all work every day for good. To HELP with things. To help others. To help our families, our friends, our fellow Democrats. What are the best ways to help if we have discretionary resources for such purposes? I ask knowing that these are questions everyone has asked her or himself at one time or another. Tonight I am just asking for the sake of sharing such explorations in possibility with the community, with others who will, from time to time, have resources they’ll be able to use to help make our world better. Pick any denomination you like for your suggestions/recommendations!
Best to you all tonight, for your good hearts, your compassion, generosity and imagination.
On to tonight's comments! Assembled and formatted (except for my contributions) by brillig!
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything
without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do
not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From belinda ridgewood:
Hunter posted a scary diary describing the report of Mitt Romney's erstwhile "transition team", and jwinIL14 filled in one more of their planned changes.
From serendipityisabitch:
In David Waldman's GunFAILXX diary, this comment by nominalize might offer a simple sideways solution.
From brillig:
Flagged by both OPOL and lyvwyr101, this one by vetwife makes my list. In One Pissed Off Liberal's diary last night on Crime and Punishment in the 21st Century.
From BeninSC:
Flagged by lyvwyr101 (second one tonight! Awesome taste, lyvwyr101!), this comment by crystal eyes typifies something I have noticed for years. crystal eyes has a distinct talent for catchy phrasing and framing, and for slogans. See if you agree!
Flagged by cassandraX, this comment by Kristina40 goes to the heart of the Zimmerman case.
