A few months ago, March to April to be exact, Sara R began a Community Quilt for Clytemnestra. I received it in June 2.
I sent a message to Sara R. saying I had received it, but I didn't open it. Not for lack of desire but because our house was in a tumult. My eldest son had moved back to MA from CO and was staying with us for 3 weeks until he found an apartment. I didn't want the quilt to get mixed up in the chaos. So it sat in the box and waited.
After that it sat some more because I decided that I wanted my new (and first) granddaughter/grandchild to have the honor of being the first one wrapped in my quilt. We were going to Denver, July 5 for her up coming baptism.
July 6, Amelia* is wrapped in my quilt. (and you all get see my (then) 6 week old granddaughter, kossack tattooedliberal's daughter)
Here is a pic of me holding Amelia the next Monday. We had just eaten at the Native American eatery
"Tocabe" and were now across the street at an ice cream shop.
Sadly, because I made the decision to hold off opening and looking at the quilt until I needed to pack it (July 5), someone never got a chance to see her "pootie pad."
July 2 our beloved 16 year old cat "Beauty" disappeared in the forest she loved and we haven't seen her since (while my husband and I were in Denver, two of our sons were home, hoping she would find her way back).
A few days ago while I was on the computer I swore I felt her rub up against my leg. While others in this house dismissed it as a "draft," there has never been a draft at that level in that room, nor was there a draft in the house. Take it for what you will.
One of the last pictures I have Beauty (not for lack of trying, but she'd always move). Here she had just rolled over and glared at me, annoyed that I disturbed her rest - I was cleaning/sorting.
Pictures cannot do justice to the beauty of this quilt.
Reading all your thoughts and well wishes brought tears to my eyes and laughter to my heart. Which is always the best medicine.
Thank you for my beautiful quilt and all the messages and blessings. I had a break from all the medical stuff for 2 months, but start again tomorrow on the next "WTF is wrong with me" quest - with an ultrasound of my carotid artery.
Thank you again.
I'm sorry this took so long to write.
