While Pat Toomey is dithering over whether or not he should say he supports his party's star, Donald Trump—or doesn't—his opponent is bringing in her own star power. Vice President Joe Biden, Scranton boy that he is, has cut an ad for Pennsylvania Democrat Katie McGinty.
“This is what I know about Katie McGinty: Like me, she has Pennsylvania working-class roots, and she’s never abandoned them,” he begins. “Hard work, family, playing it straight. That’s Katie.”
“And the ads attacking her, they’re a bunch of malarkey,” he continues, using the word he made famous.
“Katie’s career is about looking out for families like yours, creating jobs, keeping our environment safe,” the Vice President concludes. “She’s a wife, a mom, a basketball fan. A homework supervisor. She’s like you. And she’ll fight for you in the United States Senate.”
That "playing it straight" bit ties into the building narrative against Toomey—he refuses to say where he stands on Trump. He even has his own ad where he tries to distance himself, but still won't actually say the words: "I'm dumping Trump." Instead he's telling reporters "I think some of what he's done is indefensible, but it doesn't bear on me." Sorry, bud. It does.
This one is in McGinty's grasp, making us one seat closer to taking back the Senate.
Can you chip in $3 to Katie McGinty to send Pat Toomey packing?
