The Michigan recount starts tomorrow. If you want to volunteer to take part, you may still do so. The effort requires hundreds of people to pull off. The organizers of RecountMichigan are inviting people to join the project right now.
Quoting from a local organizer’s description of the process:
In order to maintain transparency and integrity in the electoral process, and to get every one of Michigan's 4.8 million votes counted between December 2nd and December 13th, we need the help of hundreds of grassroots volunteers to serve as Volunteer Recount Observers at 19 sites around the state. In this role, you would be responsible for monitoring the recount of ballots, checking for any irregularities, and ensuring that every vote counts.
If you're interested in helping with the recount, follow this link and let us know of your availability.
After you sign up, you will be contacted shortly. Note also that volunteers must participate in an in-person or online training in order to serve as a Volunteer Recount Observer.
Tonight, December 1st, there will be a training at 6pm at the IBEW Local 252 Hall on 7920 Jackson Rd, in Ann Arbor. For the online webinar training, which takes place every evening at 8pm, you can sign up with this link.
Feel free to contact Recount Michigan 2016 with questions at any time at 734-249-8244 or

I do not have my hopes up, yet, about our ability to change the outcome of this vote. But the process is valuable in and of itself. We won’t know unless we try. (See Brainwrap’s latest post on how few votes in MI, PA, and WI would have made the difference.) Please participate in whatever way you can.
Washtenaw County Dems: This Saturday, December 3rd, we’re holding our monthly General Membership meeting starting at 9:00 AM in the Pittsfield Township Hall, 6201 W. Michigan Ave., Ann Arbor. If our County Convention last Monday night was any indication, this meeting will be a live one with hundreds of people ready to take action. Please join us if you’re in the area — and if you’re not, please post information about OTHER Michigan Democratic organizing here in the comments.
That’s all I want to post today. Next week, an update on the recount, and perhaps more on statewide Democratic organizing.
I’m posting this early today in case it can draw more volunteers for the recount. Next week, Thursday evening 7 PM ish.
