“Once is happenstance.
Twice is coincidence.
Three times is enemy action”
It just keeps on happening:
1. The Clinton campaign and/or its supporters make well publicized attacks against Bernie.
2. Then subsequent events show that those attacks were quite wrong.
Here are just two examples of this pattern, from earlier in the campaign:
That's not Bernie Sanders' picture from the 1962 Civil Rights Struggle
Supporters of Bernie Sanders shouted "English only" at civil rights activist Dolores Huerta during one Nevada caucus event
Those aren’t the only times this pattern has asserted itself. Bernie’s invitation to the Vatican and meeting with the Pope is just the latest example of it:
Sanders wasn't Invited to the Vatican.
FALSE
Sanders Invited Himself to the Vatican
FALSE
Sanders won't be speaking at the Vatican conference.
FALSE
Sanders won't meet with the Pope
FALSE
This doesn’t mean that every Clinton supporter who has voiced one of these falsehoods is a liar. In fact, I will gladly posit that the rank and file supporters of Clinton are fundamentally honest.
Unfortunately, the Clinton campaign itself is not fundamentally honest. If it only happened once, then it could have been a mistake. If it only happened twice, then it could have been carelessness. But when it happens again and again: then it demonstrates that swiftboating is part of the Clinton campaign strategy.
