So I was wading through the apple, banana cream, and key lime here and one of the comments said we can’t do socialized medicine in America because we’re too big and diverse. Instead of pointing out that we already have socialized medicine here, I decided I’d write a short diary about it. We do have socialized medicine here, it gives the best outcomes of any other provider and that provider is the largest health provider here in America and it serves a very diverse group. All the people who are served by this provider rate it very high in terms quality of care. What is this mystery health care provider? The VA.
Most of the shortcomings the VA does have come down to a lack of planning/funding from the White House and Congress. You know, like starting two wars and not simultaneously increasing the budget for the VA which would have to care for those broken in mind and body soldiers returning from said wars in addition to providing health care for those who left the battlefields long ago.
I can’t think of any reason why the rest of you can’t have what I have, the best health care in the US via socialized medicine. Other than the usual nope coming from so called “allies”...
