Yesterday I wrote about how I received a fundraising solicitation from the Trump campaign, apparently aimed at boosting his numbers just prior to the month-end FEC reporting deadline. I’m on Trump’s mailing list because I requested tickets to one of his rallies about two months ago.
Today’s email specifically seems to target folks on limited or fixed income, or who would otherwise struggle to afford making a campaign contribution.
See below, emphasis added:
Dennis, I want to introduce you to our donors. These are the men and women Hillary calls “deplorable”:
“God bless you Mr. Trump, I am behind you all the way.
I wish I had the means to give large donations but my little $10 a month is about all I can handle. God bless and keep you and your family safe.” -Alice
“I am retired and on disability. I give when I can. I believe in Donald Trump.
I want to give more but due to Obamacare, my disability insurance has nothing to pay. Go Trump.” -Deborah
“Hi Mr. Trump soon to be president, I am a retired police officer and a vet with a tour in Iraq, also I am Latino and I am voting for you.
I am a Republican and I will donate but I have to donate at the end of the month.” -Luis
With our FINAL end-of-quarter deadline coming up fast, thousands of Americans are chipping in whatever they can to Make America Great Again! And I am PROUDLY MATCHING each and every one of their donations.
Or, to translate the above into less politically correct terms:
Donald J. Trump (Mister Trump to you) really respects you pensioners, peasants and parolees who attend his rallies. But he’s getting sick and tired of hearing your lame excuses like you can’t afford it when he asks you for money. It’s time to to bite the bullet, scrape up or borrow whatever cash you can to help The Donald (Mister Trump to you) defeat the she-devil. No more poor-mouth excuses!
The blue collar billionaire. A true man of the people.
