One of the hangers at the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California is dedicated to the 475th Fighter Group, Lockheed P-38 Lightning. The Lightning served as a low, medium, and high altitude warplane. It was used as an interceptor, escort, and long-range patrol and reconnaissance airplane. The German Luftwaffe described it as “the fork-tailed devil.”

The Lockheed P-38J-25 (Lightning) is a World War II twin-engine fight and reconnaissance aircraft. It has a top speed of 414 mph and a range of 2,260 miles (with external tanks).
