VA House: Almost inconceivable, but we might be a recount in a race decided by 12 votes away from a Democratic majority in the Virginia House.
Since we last updated, two additional GOP-held seats have been called for the Democrats: HD-68 (where Dawn Adams upset veteran GOP Del. Manoli Loupassi) and HD-73 (where Debra Rodman beat longtime GOP Del. John O’Bannon). That gets the Democrats to a 14-seat gain on the night. That is the best Democratic performance since...wait for it...1899.
And there are several races left to call. Democrats have leads in two of them, which would get them to a 50-50 tie in the House of Delegates. And they are within 150 votes of three more seats that will certainly go to recount. All of these races are with all precincts counted, save for absentees or provisionals.
- HD-27: Roxann Robinson (R) leads by 138 votes.
- HD-28: Bob Thomas (R) leads by 102 votes.
- HD-40: Donte Tanner (D) leads by 185 votes.
- HD-84: Glenn Davis (R) leads by 657 votes.
- HD-85: Cheryl Turpin (D) leads by 447 votes.
- HD-94: David Yancey (R) leads by 12 votes.
