So far, the Senate has voted 51-49 to limit debate about SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh, with Jeff Flake, Susan Collins, and Joel Manchin voting in favor, while Lisa Murkowski voted against it. A final vote is scheduled for about 5pm ET, but rumors are swirling that it might be moved up by as much as 90 minutes, to 3:30pm ET.
Senators gave speeches late into the evening on Friday, including sharing statements from sexual assault survivors, and so far it’s been more of the same. Protestors continue to swarm the Capitol (well, as much as they can with that barrier) and the Supreme Court.
It’s worth noting that the CrowdPac fundraiser for Susan Collins’ “future opponent” continues to surge; during Friday’s grandstanding speech with that oh-so-predictable ending, the site crashed as angry folks took it over $2 million. As of this writing, the fund is about to cross the $3 million threshold.
