The Senators determined to keep Brett Kavanaugh off the highest court in the land are fighting the end-stage battle as they hope for the impossible—flipping an affirmative vote into a KavaNope.
To recap:
So far, the Senate has voted 51-49 to limit debate about SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh, with Jeff Flake, Susan Collins, and Joel Manchin voting in favor, while Lisa Murkowski voted against it. A final vote is scheduled for about 5pm ET, but rumors are swirling that it might be moved up by as much as 90 minutes, to 3:30pm ET.
Senators gave speeches late into the evening on Friday, including sharing statements from sexual assault survivors, and so far it’s been more of the same.
Protests continue to rage across the country and outside of both the Capitol and the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.
Speaking of protests, this clip of protesters drowning out Joel Manchin yesterday—after he tweeted out his Kavanaugh support under the cover of Susan Collins’ endless speech—is still giving me life.
If you’ve cut the cord, you can watch today’s proceedings live on C-SPAN. That link should let you bypass the need to sign in with a cable provider, according to some commenters, and remarkably, they’re cutting to a completely uncensored protest feed in between the Senators’ speeches.
For those having issues with C-SPAN (as other commenters have indicated), here’s the NBC News feed via YouTube.
