As many of you know, one of the more insidious conspiracy theories has centered around a supposed pedophilia ring supposedly involving everyone who is anyone in the Democratic Party and Hollywood. This theory, known variously as “Pizzagate,” “QAnon” or “The Storm,” has been buzzing around the deplorable tubes for almost three years despite being comprehensively debunked.
One of the most sordid aspects of this theory has been the large number of right-wing pseudojournalists who seem to make it their business to look for pedophiles under every rock. Among the most notorious of them has been Liz Crokin. You may remember that last year, she got the bright idea to falsely smear Chrissy Teigen and John Legend as pedophiles for—horrors!--dressing their daughter as a hot dog and as Alice in Wonderland. Frankly, it’s a wonder she wasn’t booted off Twitter then.
Well, the bill has finally come due for Crokin. Earlier today, she was finally suspended from Twitter.
It started earlier this weekend, when she claimed that J. K. Rowling was, at the very least, covering for pedophiles. Here’s a screenshot.
Rowling, as we all know, is an intractable Trump critic, and Crokin has long maintained that the loudest Trump critics are running interference for pedophiles—if they aren’t pedophiles themselves.
After calling out this insanity at RDTDaily, I debated whether to report that tweet as targeted harassment. But when I got ready to do so this morning, I was greeted with this.
Just in case I thought it was snark, Crokin confirmed it on Instagram.
Predictably, deplorable Twitter has gone into full meltdown. Click over to my piece at RDTDaily for a sample.
I wonder if these bottom-feeders realize that they are defending a woman who slandered and libeled people for years, thus putting them in danger. This isn’t just in the abstract. Remember, we aleady know of two cases where Pizzagate almost got someone killed.
Yep, two. Just a few days after Edgar Welch decided to “self-investigate” Comet Ping Pong, another Pizzagate follower took it upon himself to call another pizza joint in the same neighborhood and threatened to shoot up the place.
Now imagine some bottom-feeder taking the law into their own hands and going after one of the many people Crokin smeared over the years. Good thing Twitter didn’t wait for that to happen before shutting this woman down. Frankly, I hope the door hit her hard on the way out.
