Since last October, the Trump administration has ripped at least 1,300 children from the arms of migrant parents at the U.S./Mexico border as a matter of official policy. This is the shame of our nation, and it is happening in our names. We need to stop this, and now.
Join thousands of others in a National Day of Action today, Thursday June 14, to say that families belong together. According to immigrant rights leaders, thousands of advocates have been self-planning rallies, marches and vigils in 45 cities across the country, to protest the Trump administration’s cruel policy separating families, many of whom are seeking asylum from violence.
Vulnerable parents and kids belong together, not separated thousands of miles apart, not behind bars, in detention facilities, and not in concentration camps. We have to fight for them. “The outrage and opposition will only keep growing if the Administration continues this cruelty of separating families,” said Jess Morales Rocketto of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. “Families belong together. This shouldn’t be up for debate. No one should accept babies being torn from their mothers’ arms or children being locked away from their parents. Congress has the power to stop this inhumane practice.”
We are fathers, mothers, neighbors, people from all walks of life who are outraged about what is happening to immigrant families. We are coming together to turn our outrage and heartbreak into action. Kids are not pawns. Families belong together. It’s that simple.
