OH-12: We won’t know definitively who the winner of this special election is tonight, but the odds are in the favor of Republican Troy Balderson. With all the precincts now reporting, he holds a 1766-vote lead over Democrat Danny O’Connor.
However, the secretary of state is already reporting that there are still 8400 absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted. Now, to be fair, O’Connor would need a ridiculous amount of those votes to move into the lead. But moving into recount territory is not out of the realm of possibility.
Either way, the GOP had to throw a lot of green to hold a seat that Trump won by 11 points just two years ago. Look, no one denies that “moral victories” suck a little bit. But there is a reason that they are called moral victories.
