The attorney representing the group of immigrant workers who have bravely spoken out about abuses at Donald’s Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey says there could be at least one dozen other undocumented immigrants who, despite the president’s constant anti-immigrant blustering and lying, continue to work at the resort to this very today.
"It's my understanding based on what my clients have said, they have friends who also work there," Anibal Romero said. “We're talking about a very high number of employees at the golf club who were not documented, who were also brought in to work there, who may share similar stories."
Former housekeeper Victorina Morales is among the five immigrants who has stepped forward to say that resort management not only knew she was undocumented, but helped procure false documentation for her. Morales said she was later physically and verbally abused by staff, including being shoved and compared to a dog.
Some of the accusations have now reportedly gotten the attention of investigators, following Romero turning over the false documents, including green cards, to the FBI. “The materials collected by law enforcement agencies, first reported by the New York Daily News, indicate that investigators may be launching a probe into the hiring practices of the president’s golf club.”
There’s also a question of how much Trump himself knew, since Morales worked so close to Trump that she made his bed, cleaned his clothes, and was even recognized by the White House for her work. “Nothing at the Trump Organization was ever done unless it was run through Mr. Trump,” former fixer and convicted criminal Michael Cohen said last month.
As a victim, one leading immigration attorney said Morales could be eligible for a special visa, though she also applied for asylum shortly before coming forward with her explosive revelation to the New York Times last month. “We need to come out and defend ourselves,” she said. “I had enough with suffering.”
