First off, major props to The Termite. The Termite is the author of an important diary from the olden, golden days of DailyKos that had a few things to say regarding Nancy Pelosi. His words then deserve to be shared today, 12 years later, and shared widely. I truly appreciate that The Termite took the time to quote Congressional Quarterly back in ‘07. I’m lucky I commented on that diary, and doubly lucky I happened to stumble onto that old comment today.
We must face some hard truths about our leader: Who she was then. Who she is now. And who she will always be.
I thought Speaker Pelosi’s comment today was the last straw for me. The truth is worse, and hurts more. It turns out my last straw was long ago and I just needed a refresher. As it is wont to do, history tragically repeated itself today on the national stage.
Without further ado, please take a moment to read these quotes from the days of the failed attempt to stop the Iraq war, and check out the comments in The Termite’s diary for a look at the feelings of the DailyKos alumni. They are illuminating. As a favor, please choose your favorite comment from ‘07, and post it as a comment to this diary. There were 692 comments so you have a nice wide selection to choose from.

Pelosi in CQ: I thought they'd just roll over and die.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., admitted Thursday that she had underestimated the willingness of Republicans to stand behind President Bush’s Iraq policy despite the drubbing the GOP took in the polls in 2006.
"The assumption I made was that the Republicans would soon see the light," she said. Instead, the minority stuck to the president’s war policy in the face of unrelenting pressure from congressional Democrats and powerful lobbying campaigns by anti-war groups.
"That was a revelation to me, because I felt the American peoples' voices were so strong and still are in this regard that I hoped that with some compromise and reaching out there might be some change in direction," Pelosi said. "But they are sticking with the president on this."
WTF, over? Rarely is the question asked, Is our Leader learning?
Could someone please take the needle off this goddamn record one of these decades?!?
I honestly can’t decide which comment I like best. So many to choose from. Way too many to make into a poll, so lets just go by Recs or something. Ready, fire, aim!
