Our friend roses is in an aggressive treatment for endometrial cancer — and it is not her first time. She wrote to me:
About my condition... I was first diagnosed with endometrial cancer in 2016 and had surgery and some radiation then. A recurrence was diagnosed this past April, and I've had fairly intensive chemo and radiation therapy since June, with my last chemo in January. I'm still recovering from treatment side effects... numbness in hands and feet, fatigue, hair loss, and some others. I had a CT scan this past week, and I'll find out next week if I need to have more treatment. I'm maxed out on radiation, but I've got a feeling I'll be having more chemo or some other treatment.
We are 19 messages short for this quilt — I will keep this number updated.
It is a very tough thing to be in a fight like this, with all the rough side effects. Let’s lend her community support with loving messages on a quilt, something she can take with her to treatment or wrap herself in at home. This is support that will stay with her, even after healing. Let’s be there for her.
Roses’ quilt will be our 167th.
What is a community quilt? It is a quilt containing messages from you, transcribed by me in archival ink onto muslin. My sister and I incorporate these messages into a colorful design, tailor made for the recipient. Each quilt is unique and very personal. They also have a strong vibe from all the words of love and respect. Words have great power! Believe me, they really do! Leave a message in the comments below and I will {{{{hug}}}} you to let you know I have it noted.
It takes lots of time and material to make a community quilt and it is a living for me and my sister. If you would like to contribute toward the cost of this quilt, here is a PayPal link — or message me for an address should you prefer a check. $20/message is suggested by no worries if you cannot afford to donate. We still want your message! This is a crowdfunded thing and some always give more to cover messages for those who are short on funds.
Please note, if you leave a message in PayPal or somewhere other than the comments below, please Kos Mail me to make sure I pick it up.
Click here for a list of community quilts - there have been 165 to date. Robin’s quilt will be the 166th.
