Folks in Wisconsin celebrated their dominance of Twitter tonight.
Seriously.
#PrincessBrideReunion trended nationwide.
And it all went to benefit the WI Democratic party.
Which is as it should be.
Because Wisconsin, and the atrocious gerrymander that Republicans have imposed upon the state, has been in the news lately.
Even local Republicans are admitting that they’ve rigged the system and are “challenging” Democrats to draw up new maps.
We grassroots activists have a different idea.
How about we defeat the GOP in the local 2020 Wisconsin elections?

You may have donated to local state legislative races already via dailykos AMAZING state legislative ACTBlue page documented in this diary from David Nir here; and if you did, I not only salute you, I’m one of you!
But not every slate can include every state, and you may have noticed that Wisconsin did not make the dkos cut, and that’s why I’d like to lift up two worthy Wisconsin state legislative candidates who are working to get out the vote in critical districts and merit your support.
(I don’t need to remind you that every voter they turn out in their districts will help Biden/Harris solidify a Democratic Win in Wisconsin on election night.)
::
First, please meet Sarah Yacoub, running to represent Hudson and River Falls from Assembly District 30 in Wisconsin:
That’s a compelling bio ad. Right?
What’s more, Sarah has the policy chops and endorsements to win over Democrats across the board.
Here’s the thing. Sarah is fighting against a GOP incumbent in a district that has a slight GOP tilt. She will need all the help she can get.
We don’t have the luxury to hope for coattails when the GOP has stacked the deck against Democrats.
And when we help Sarah, her mobilization helps Democrats up the ticket, as well. Think about that when you consider the attention that you’re going to pay to Wisconsin on election night.
The same goes for the other candidate I’m highlighting tonight. Emily Siegrist is running to represent Wisconsin Assembly District 24 which includes the communities of River Hills, Brown Deer, and portions of Glendale, Mequon, Menomenee Falls and Germantown.
Education, veterans, and healthcare.
Those are core issues that Wisconsin voters care about. Emily Siegrist’s district tilts slightly more Republican than Sarah’s, but her focus on these core issues and powerful endorsements will help put wind in her sails. And, trust me, she can win.
Republicans in Wisconsin have voted with business and against expanding healthcare and protecting education, and they don't want to be held accountable.
And that’s where we have some say so.
You’ve seen the hundreds of millions of dollars the top of the ticket is raking in.
If you’re like me, you’ve been getting calls from the DSCC (which we donate to monthly!!) asking for more money.
But the smart money and volunteering right now is with local, grassroots candidates.
As election day approaches, this is where your dollars make an immediate and profound impact.
And that’s my message for you tonight.
Whether you donate to these deserving WI candidates or simply amplify them on social media, you will know that you’ve done something right.
And….I’m very confident you won’t let it go to your head!
Inigo Montoya: Hey Fezzik, you did something right.
Fezzik: I won't let it go to my head.

About this series:
I’m a longtime Dailykos blogger dating back to 2003. I was part of helping local blogs and the netroots drive Democrats to take back the House in 2006 and helped build some of the biggest and most successful online and offline grassroots groups supporting Barack Obama before I went to Nebraska to work on Scott Kleeb’s US Senate campaign.
The 2020 Democratic State Legislative candidates are heroes, and deserve our support. They are our best chance of changing US politics including GOP voter suppression and gerrymandering for decades to come and many of them will run campaigns that help us win electoral college votes and key US Senate votes:
Mokah Jasmine Johnson (GA) | Akilah Bacy (TX)| Joanna Cattanach (TX)| Ricky Hurtado (NC)| Sara Rodriguez (WI) | Franccesca Cesti-Brown (FL) | Brandy Chambers (TX) | Anton Andrew (PA) | Chokwe Pitchford (MI)
You can also visit the State Level Impact 2020 ActBlue Page (Page created w/ an email privacy option for those who prefer to make a one time donation to multiple candidates.) As well as a Twitter Feed featuring even more Democratic State Leg candidates to follow and support.
UPDATE on Chokwe Pitchford: Chokwe’s bio ad now has more than 40,000 views thanks in no small part to readers like you. Let’s keep this rolling. Let’s win and have fun doing it!!
