It should be no surprise that the Trump co-conspirators and enablers voted NOT TO Investigate themselves and their ring-leader. That’s like expecting the gangsters to flip on the mob-boss, just because the “feds” asked them to do so — nicely.
It was never gonna happen. Not as long as the mob-boss was calling the shots — watching their every move, er ah, and their every vote.
Only someone naive enough, as old-school enough, as Senator Manchin could believe the fantasy that Republicans would actually do something — do anything — for the sake of bi-partisanship … shoot that they would do something — do anything — for the sake of the nation. Do anything to safeguard and protect our democracy.
That ship has sailed.
Buy a clue Dems. The GOP for all intents and purposes is “all in” on the Trump caper — AND they will cheer on the next insurrection too, if that means they will/might/possibly regain their undeserved grip on power. … Then let the country be damned!
This current incarnation of the GOP is as crass as it gets. Their vote NOT TO Investigate the Trump insurrection proves that they put themselves — and their D.C. careers — above Everything ELSE.
Above history, above democracy, and even above the nation. It’s not the party of John McCain anymore. That ship has sailed too.
This Trump-club will ALWAYS put their own self-interest miles above, any faux dance they may perform, feigning old-school “bi-partisanship” … That ship has sailed and circled the globe twice.
McConnell has vowed the exact opposite of “bi-partisanship” in fact — on many occasions. Mitch’s No. One Job is now to see Biden FAIL. And this latest McConnell-led vote, proves out those ill-intentions, in fact and indeed.
Damn! — if Dems go it alone and pursue some sort of “Select Committee” like is being floated now — the Trump-no-nothings will NEVER accept its finding anyways.
You know what their compliant will be? ... “That any findings of any Democrat 1-6 Commission are now” … wait for it — “NOT Bipartisan.” Therefore not worthy of their fake consideration.
That’s how the cynical me-first GOP plays the game.
It’s time Dems upped their game. And met their fire, with ire.
FORGET about a special “Select Committee” set on “fact-finding” the events of 1-6-2021.
Install a “special prosecutor” instead — someone to bring charges for the law-breaking committed by the Insurrection enablers and co-conspirators. Let the traitorous chips fall where they may … where they must. Attempting to overthrow a free and fair and certified election — is not business as usual.
It is not juvenile hi-jinks. It was not a peaceful protest.
It was a planned, egged-on, co-ordinated attempt to overthrow our government. All because the “former guy” really, really, REALLY — wanted to stay out of Jail, to stay insulated from the cascade of indictments now heading his way.

Besides we’ve already got substantial “finding of facts” concerning what really happened on that historic, horrible day. Most of America watched it live on TV. Republican-enablers can’t “unring that bell” now — no matter how quickly they try whistling past those insurrection tombstones.
Bill Moyers and company have already studious documented “what really happened” on 1-6. Other serious journalists will do so as well, if they have not already.

Nothing says “Lock them up Danno” like this outrageous “premeditation” — of their “Stop the Steal” campaign, planned LONG before the Election, was won or lost.
Nothing says “Yup were guilty” more than their methodical, day-after-day execution of that sick, corrosive, destructive plan — all without a shred of evidence, that any court in the land would accept as serious.
Nothing screams out for“special prosecutor” like the GOP — NOT to willing investigate the events of 1-6 … because you know … the Politics look bad. (AKA as a “covering-up of the caper,” if this were more quaint times. … If this were “business as usual” ...)
