It’s finally here! With 2021 now squarely in our rear view, we are pleased to announce the winner of the 2021 Daily Kos Elections prediction contest, sponsored by Green’s Babka: childers moof! Out of a possible 18 points, childers moof scored a near-flawless 17, the highest score in the contest by a two-point margin. Also receiving babka is the runner up, UpstateNYer (who, incredibly, also finished in the top three in last year’s contest); they secured a second-place finish with 15 points overall after squeezing past Taget in the tiebreaker round with a total error of 3.27 vs. Taget’s 6.07.
As you may recall, we asked you to pick the winners of six elections held last November, ranging from the marquee (Virginia’s race for governor) to some straight-up downballot deep cuts (district attorney in Bucks County, Pennsylvania ). We also asked you to predict the number of seats Democrats would win in the Virginia House of Delegates, and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s margin of victory over Republican Jack Ciatterelli (which, as it turned out, was not large!). As a tiebreaker question, finally, we asked you to guess the vote totals for each of the three Virginia gubernatorial candidates. The closest guess in this category came from ksteve8, who was only 0.79 points off the final margin.
If you’d like to see how you scored, you can find our full spreadsheet of results here. Thanks again to all who entered, and a special thank you to our generous sponsor, GreensBabka.com. We will be in touch with the top two winners shortly, so check your inboxes.
