David Nir joins me as guest co-host this week on our weekly podcast about politics, Daily Kos’ The Brief. Along with Senate Majority PAC’s J.B. Poersch, we’re going to take a close look at the 2022 Senate map. Can Democrats hold the majority? Can we expand it, despite the tough political climate? And with so many Republicans like Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson and party leader Donald Trump playing kissy-face with Russian dictator and mass murderer Vladimir Putin, can the Ukraine invasion give Democrats an unexpected assist?
You can watch the show live right here on Tuesdays at 1:30 PM PT/4:30 PM ET, while the podcast version goes live Wednesday mornings at all the usual places, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify. A full list of places to download the show is available here.
We had a great show focusing on the Ukraine invasion two weeks ago, and last week we had Meteor Blades and Mark Sumner on to talk about how global energy has impacted Russia and its war. I highly recommend those shows, if you haven’t caught them yet.
As for today’s episode, November’s elections are really existential. Do we let Putin’s party win an obstructionist majority, or can we claw the two seats we need to make West Virginia’s Joe Manchin and Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema irrelevant within the Democratic caucus? We do that, while holding the House, and we can expand the Supreme Court, grant D.C. statehood, pass real voting rights reforms, and all sorts of other amazing democracy-saving legislation.
