Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia was always—and continues to be—a problem.
In 2021, Congress voted to remove her from all committee assignments because she had supported calls to execute high-level Democrats. Such behavior should have gotten her expelled from Congress, so she was lucky to only lose committee seats for a term.
Two years later, after Republicans narrowly took back the House, Kevin McCarthy was elected speaker on the 15th ballot—thanks to Greene’s strategic support. Guess who got her committee assignments back? Guess what happened next? She continued, and still continues, to spout treasonous and fascist-friendly rhetoric.

Greene has not changed, but McCarthy realized that he needed her.

And she has been unrepentant, telling The New York Times in January that McCarthy's adoption of her extremist policies "will easily vindicate me and prove I moved the conference to the right.”

So why do these committee assignments matter? Greene is now a member of the House Homeland Security Committee–which forms policy for and focuses on our national security.
You have probably heard that Greene recently called for a “national divorce” between red and blue states—in other words, she endorsed the dissolution of the United States.

But last week, she went on Tucker Carlson to talk about "this war against Russia in Ukraine," even though Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine. And she voted against a resolution on the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, probably because it criticizes the Assad regime.
She doesn't just want a national divorce—she coddles brutal dictators, while having access to top-secret information on the Homeland Security Committee.

While the new Republican House put treasonous dictator friends like Greene on Homeland Security, they were also busy removing Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from the Foreign Affairs Committee. It's a hideous double standard that reeks of partisan revenge.
Last week, Barely Speaker McCarthy and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries set up a task force to find a bipartisan process to remove members from committees.
The task force was set up after a few Republicans were uncomfortable about removing Rep. Omar, and McCarthy promised them that this was the best way to move forward.
How's this for a bipartisan solution? Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is a threat to our national security, and has absolutely no business serving on the Homeland Affairs Committee—no matter what Kevin McCarthy's political ambitions or payback have in store.
