LeMay—America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington had a special display Porsche at 75: Decades of Excellence.
According to the Museum:
“Whether it be in road cars or racing cars, Porsche has achieved excellence with instantly recognizable style, following the spirit and principles of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and his son, Ferry Porsche.”
Dr. Porsche was an electrical engineer who designed cars, aircraft engines, military vehicles, and other products for Austro-Daimler, Daimler-Benz, and Steyr. He started his own design and engineering firm in 1930. The post-war Porsche company was led by Ferry Porsche (1909-1998),
1971 Porsche 911 T
The T indicated the “touring” model. It has a 2195 cc 6-cylinder engine with 125 horsepower. It has a 5-speed transmission.
1973 Porsche 911 E
It has a 2341 cc 6-cylinder engine with 165 horsepower. It has a 5-speed transmission.
1974 Porsche 914 LE
It has a 1971 cc 4-cylinder engine with 91 horsepower. It has a 5-speed transmission.
1989 Porsche 928 S4
Porsche’s front engine, water-cooled V8 was intended to replace the 911. It became, instead, a high performance, grand touring alternative to the 911. It has a 4957 cc 8-cylinder engine with 320 horsepower. It has an automatic transmission.
1993 Porsche 911 RS America
Porsche did away with power steering, radios, electric front seats, and rear seats as this was designed as a driver’s car. Only 701 RS Americas were produced. It has a 3600 cc 6-cylinder engine with 247 horsepower. It has a 5-speed transmission.
